RS/6000 Welcome Center |
TheRS/6000 Welcome Center has been updated with new content and demos including a multimedia game.
The RS/6000 Welcome Center is a software package that provides a friendly introduction to the RS/6000 and AIX product families. It is designed to provide information about your new RS/6000 system and software, to facilitate quick setup and configuration, to demonstrate system capabilities and to provide links to other valuable resources of RS/6000 and AIX information such as service and support.
The Welcome Center is normally available for RS/6000 Systems as a no-charge, preinstall option on AIX 4.
The RS/6000 Welcome Center requires
AIX Ultimedia Services/6000
(UMS) 2.1.4.0. You can run the Welcome Center
on AIX 4 systems without UMS
but the multimedia demos will not be enabled.
The Welcome Center can be installed just like any AIX install image. Follow the
steps below to install it.
in the directory where the install image resides.
The Welcome Center requires about 55 Mbytes of disk space and will
be installed in the /welcome directory.
Follow the steps below to run the Welcome Center AFTER you have installed
it on your system.
./welcome.start
These commands will launch the Netscape Navigator in an environment best suited
for the Welcome Center.

installp -aXdWelcome.bin Welcome
Running the installed Welcome Center
cd /welcome
