You can manually add socket connections to a socket API performance
test.
Before you begin
In a performance test, socket connection elements describe the
connection to a server. A connection must exist before you can send or receive
data.
Ensure that for each socket connection, there is a corresponding
socket close. If not, during the test run, the operating system can run out
of socket handles, causing the test to fail.
About this task
To add a socket connection to a performance test:
Procedure
- Open the performance test in the test editor.
- In the Test Contents area of the test editor,
right-click the test node, and click .
- In the Test Element Details section, in Host,
type the host name or IP address of the computer, and then, specify the Port
number for the connection. You can specify a Think Time delay
before the test establishes the connection.
What to do next
After you have created a connection, you can change
the
Connection setting in any socket send, receive,
or close element in the test to use this connection.
