System design and management

You can design an asset management system to be based on and to compliment your existing business processes and information model.

The following figure shows how to design your IBM® Rational® Asset Manager system to achieve your asset management objectives. For more information about a step, click the corresponding box in the image. To see how to manage your system, see Managing a system

The image
shows boxes that you can click to go to the task topics for repository
and community administrators to design and manage Rational Asset Manager. As the figure shows, you first must identify and define your business process or set of processes and your information model. You then use the processes and information model to define the communities, categories, and asset types that your system needs.
