IBM® Rational® Asset Manager server can use IBM Rational ClearCase® to
store assets instead of using the file system of the Rational Asset Manager server.
About this task
To configure the web client, Rational ClearCase must
be installed, configured, and working. The Rational ClearCase client
must be installed on the same server machine as the server application.
For servers in a cluster, each the Rational ClearCase client must be installed
on each server in the cluster. Additionally, the application server
service must be started as the same user as the one used for the Rational ClearCase client, and as the user who has
access to the Rational ClearCase Versioned Object
Base (VOB).
On Linux,
you must run the Rational ClearCase
setview command
from a command prompt:
cleartool setview <viewname>.
Tip: Before you use setview, make sure that
the view you are working with is mounted by using the "cleartool mount-all"
option or by mounting the individual setview you
want to work with. You can use the cleartool help to learn more about
the sub-commands for setview.
The
setview command
applies to the current shell, so IBM WebSphere® Application Server
must be started in the same shell after the
setview command
is run.
After the Rational Asset
Manager web application has been installed, an administrator must
log in and navigate to the Disk Storage section of the Configuration
page and specify the following information:
- Persist type: From the menu, choose Rational ClearCase.
- Persist folder: Specify the location of
the dynamic view which points to a VOB on the Rational ClearCase server.
The dynamic view shows the file hierarchy inside the VOB on the server.
The
Local folder setting is not related
to the Rational ClearCase installation. Do
not point the local folder to a location inside a Rational ClearCase view.
Save the configuration. New assets that are submitted
are checked in to Rational ClearCase when they are uploaded
to Rational Asset Manager.
Note: After
you save the configuration, do not change the path to either the persist
folder or the local folder.
