Advanced searching for assets

You can search for assets in the Eclipse client by using advanced search strings.

Before you begin

You must be connected to a Rational® Asset Manager repository to search assets.

About this task

The primary method of finding assets is to use a keyword search, which compares keywords to information in the following sources of information about an asset:
  • Names
  • Descriptions and short descriptions
  • Ratings
  • Communities
  • Categories
  • Attributes and custom attributes
  • Tags
  • Artifacts, or files within assets

If you are familiar with the advanced search syntax, you can type advanced search queries directly in the Asset Search view. You can also use the Advanced Search section of the Asset Search window to generate advanced search queries.

Procedure

  1. In the Eclipse menu, click Search > Search.
  2. In the Search window, click the Asset Search tab.
  3. Click Advanced to expand the Advanced Search view.
  4. In the Advanced Search section, type or select keywords in as many fields as necessary in any combination.
  5. Optional: In the Search Scope section, you can select Rational Asset Manager repository that you want to search. You can also select these additional options:
    Option Description
Search within artifacts Search within the content of artifacts
Search forums Search the contents of the discussion forums
Search remote assets Search remote assets (assets in another repository such as WebSphere® Service Registry and Repository or Tivoli® Change and Configuration Management Database)
  6. Click Search. The advanced search query appears in the Asset Search view; search results for your query appear in the Assets view.
