Create new asset forums to give users an area where they
can discuss an asset in a community.
Before you begin
To create a forum in a community,
your role in that community
must have the Forums administration permission. If you do not
have permission to create a forum or topic for an asset, you can enter
a message in the Comments section of the Discussion page.
Procedure
To create an asset forum:
- Log into Rational® Asset Manager web
client.
- Open the asset that you want to create a forum for. To
locate an asset, use the search page, My Dashboard page, subscriptions,
or the home page sidebars.
- Click Discussion.
- In the Forums section, click New Forum.
- Enter a name for the forum.
- Optional: Select Make forum private to
prevent the forum from being shared across assets.
- Click OK.
- If the community has a connection to a Jazz™ server, you can optionally limit the connection,
project area, and type of resource (for example, Defect or Enhancement)
that users can select when creating or linking to work items in forum
posts. All fields are mandatory:
- On the asset forum page, in the Change Management Configuration
section, click Configure.
- From the Connection list, select
the Jazz server connection to limit other users to. Repository
administrators can add and modify connections to Jazz servers. For
more information, see Adding IBM Jazz servers as friend servers.
- From the Project area list, select
a project area on the Jazz server. After you select a project
area, other users will only be able to create or link to work items
in that project area on the Jazz server.
- From the Type list, select the
type of resource to limit users to. For example, select Enhancement if
you want other users to only be able to open enhancements in this
forum.
- Depending on the configuration of the Jazz server, project
area, or resource type, you might have other mandatory options that
you must select such as the File against or Severity fields.
- To save the configuration, click OK.
What to do next
After you have created a forum, you can create discussion
topics or link the forum to more assets.
