Installing Installation Manager in console mode

You can install IBM® Installation Manager in console mode, which is a text-based user interface that is used in a command-line utility.

Procedure

  1. On a command line, change the directory to the InstallerImage_platform folder on the first installation disk.
  2. Start Installation Manager in console mode by entering the consoleinst file.
  3. Enter N. Installation Manager is selected for installation by default.
  4. On the Licenses screen, enter A to accept the terms of the license agreement.
  5. Enter N.
  6. Choose an installation location:
    • To change the installation location from the default value, enter L. Enter an installation location, and then enter N.
    • To accept the default installation location, enter N.
  7. On the Summary screen, review your selections.
  8. To generate a response file for installing Installation Manager silently on other computers, enter G.
  9. Enter I to confirm the installation.
  10. Enter R to restart Installation Manager to complete the installation.
