Before you can create a new asset, you must have a project in your workspace to contain the new asset. If you are working with existing assets in Eclipse, you will not need to create a project. After creating the new project, share the files in the project to Rational® ClearCase, by doing this, you have specified a destination directory on the ClearCase Versioned Object Base (VOB). When you create the new asset, you share it in this directory. By doing this, you have stored the files on the ClearCase Versioned Object Base (VOB) server at a specific directory. When you create the new asset, it is shared in this directory. Rational ClearCase tags the branches that the asset is submitted to in the same way that Rational ClearCase tags any other object. After you submit assets to Rational ClearCase, you can use the tag that is on the branch to help you find the asset. You can view the contents of the asset by using your local view of the branch that the asset was submitted on.
After sharing the project with ClearCase, you must first submit the asset to the Rational Asset Manager repository and then share the asset files, specifically the .Asset and .Settings files with ClearCase.
If you find an asset in the web client that is connected to ClearCase, you can view the ClearCase properties by clicking the spectacles on each artifact in the contents tab.
If you find the asset in the Eclipse client, select the asset in the Asset Explorer view and the information is displayed in the Properties view.
