Using the Eclipse Asset Management perspective

Use the Asset Management perspective to work with your Rational® Asset Manager assets.

In the Rational Asset Manager Eclipse client, you can use the Asset Management perspective and its associated views to work with assets.

The following views are associated with the Asset Management perspective:

Problems: Displays the number of errors, the types of errors, other information associated with errors, and asset validation errors.

Properties: Displays the property names and basic properties of a selected resource. View the assets in a specific repository and the properties of the repositories, including tasks, tags, user information, and general asset information.

Navigator: Displays all of the resources in your workspace.

Asset Explorer: Displays all of the assets, the versions of the assets, and the URL artifacts that are in your workspace. To overwrite an asset with the latest update from the server, right-click the asset and select Re-import.

Asset Repositories: Displays all of the repository connections that you have created. For each repository connection, you can view the following characteristics:
  • Assets
  • Asset details including owners, modified dates, short description, community, and ratings
  • Tags. In the My Tags section, click a tag to see search results for that tag.
  • Tasks. In the My Tasks section, double click a task to resolve the task in the web client.
  • Downloaded assets
View, create, and delete subscriptions to assets and import them into your workspace. Begin a batch update task to or from any active connection that is listed in this view.

Asset Search: Use this view to find assets by typing a search string into the keyword search field. Use the Filters and Tag Cloud sections to apply filters to a search.

Assets: Displays your search results. Browse, import, or add an asset or a group of assets to a batch update task.

Outline: Displays asset details in an outline that includes forums and all of the topics.

While working in the Asset Management perspective, use the Asset Editor. The Asset Editor has two modes: edit and read-only.
Note: If you import a remote asset from WebSphere Service Registry and Repository, you cannot edit the asset.
The editor has the following pages:
  • General Details: general information, such as title, community membership, and description.
  • Contents: the artifacts of the asset.
  • Categories: the categorization for the asset.
  • Related Assets: assets that are related to the asset and how the assets are related.
  • Review: a log of comments, approvals, and rejections for all states of the asset.
  • Ratings: the various ratings and feedback about an asset.
  • Discussion: discussions about an asset from forums and comments.
  • Statistics: asset statistics, such as search queries and download activity.
