Using the Eclipse client with Rational ClearCase

Integrate the IBM® Rational® Asset Manager Eclipse client with IBM Rational ClearCase®.

Before you begin

You must have the following software and plug-ins installed:
Configure the following tools:
  • You must have the ClearTool application, cleartool.exe, on the client path.
  • After you install the Rational ClearCase Eclipse plug-ins, restart your Eclipse client by using the –clean option.

About this task

The tools detect when artifacts are checked into Rational ClearCase, and report Rational ClearCase information as the assets are submitted to Rational Asset Manager. The properties view lists the Rational ClearCase properties. When you submit an asset, all of the recorded information is transferred and stored on the Rational Asset Manager server. If artifacts of an asset exist in Rational ClearCase, Rational Asset Manager finds and records that information. This helps to account for and trace assets and to reuse and develop assets by reconnecting back to Rational ClearCase.

Note: If you use a language that Rational Asset Manager supports but that Rational ClearCase does not, you can create assets that have a name in that language, but you cannot contribute the asset to a project or create an attachment that is named in that language.

To integrate Rational Asset Manager with Rational ClearCase, use the following instructions.
