Configure the location to store assets and information
used by the server.
Before you begin
Note: In V7.5.1 and later, you cannot select Rational® ClearCase® for
asset storage. However, if you used Rational ClearCase before V7.5.1,
you can continue to use it.
About this task
If you used the server setup application to configure IBM® Rational Asset Manager,
you would have configured disk storage in the server setup application.
You
must configure three folders for storage for
Rational Asset Manager:
- Persist folder
- Asset content, including all artifacts, are stored in the Persist
folder. The Persist type and location determine
how and where assets will be stored. On a cluster, the persist folder must be
on a shared drive that all servers on the cluster can access.
- Local folder
- The Local folder stores temporary and working
files. It must be on a local hard drive for the
server; it must not be a shared drive. If you are installing to a cluster, each
node in the cluster must have its own local storage folder that is
not shared with the other nodes. If you are installing multiple servers
on the same physical node, the servers should all use the same physical
local storage folder.
- Index folder
- The Index folder stores the search index. It must be on a local hard drive for the
server; it must not be a shared drive.
Note: For
Windows, if you are using a remote file server or a IBM WebSphere® Application Server cluster,
the same Windows user account (user name and password) must be able
to log on to every machine used by Rational Asset Manager.
Otherwise, will not be able to save files on different file servers.
To
improve performance, all three folders should be on different hard
drives.
What to do next
You should not change the folders after they have been configured.
Once indexes have been created, if you change the index folder you
will have to recreate the indexes.
