Categorize assets by using category schemas
at both the
repository and community levels.
About this task
Categorizing assets helps users find
the assets during
a search. The asset type and community of the asset may affect which
categories are available. Use as many categories that describe the
appropriate context for the asset you are submitting.
The asset
might be subject to a review process if you assign certain categories
to an asset. Community and repository administrators determine which
assets of certain types or categorizations will be subject to review.
Procedure
To categorize the asset:
- In
the Submit an Asset or Modify an Asset page, below the
attributes, click the Categories tab.
- In the Available Categories field, browse the categories
and evaluate whether the asset you are submitting fits in any of the
categories.
- In the Available Categories field,
expand category schemas
as necessary and select the categories or sub-categories that describe
your asset.
- Click the name of any category to
select it; click again to
clear it.
- If you select a category, its parent categories
will automatically
be selected.
- If you select an exclusive category,
any conflicting categories
will be cleared.
As you select categories,
the categories will appear in
the Applied Categorizations field.
- Select
as many categories as is appropriate for your new
asset.
What to do next
Next, add related
assets.
When you are ready to submit the asset to the repository,
click Save. If you are modifying an existing
asset, click Update.
