Configure the location of the server application.
About this task
The server path is stored in the manifest file of each asset
to indicate where it is stored. The default value is what the application
estimates the value should be, but you might need to change it. The
value should be set to the URL that a user would use to access the
application, which might be a web server or proxy server. In a clustered
server environment, it may be necessary to provide the URL to the
primary server.
If you use IPV6, use the
IPV6 hostname; an IPV6 address will not work.
Procedure
- Log in to the web application.
- Click Administration.
- Click Configuration.
- On the Configuration page, locate the Web Server Path section.
- If you are not operating in a cluster, select Use
default and confirm that the location in the Path text
field is correct. It should be the same as the URL and context root
in the address bar of the browser. If you are operating in a cluster,
clear the Use default check box and type the
URL and context root for the primary server in the Path text
field.
Note: If you are accessing the application from
a browser located on the server itself, the host name of the URL in
the address bar will be localhost. If you want
the default value to be set to your IP or host name address, you can
access the web application from a remote machine. When you do this,
the default URL will include the IP address or host name you are using
to access Rational® Asset Manager.
- Click Save.
Results
Changing the server path will initiate a background process
that can be very time consuming if you have a lot of assets in the
repository. For every asset in the repository, the process updates
the server URL in the database record for the asset and in a metadata
file in the asset. The repository should not be used until this background
process is finished.
