You administer the system at the repository and community
levels.
After you install IBM® Rational® Asset Manager,
configure the repository for communities.
The task flow shows the administration tasks to set up and manage
a system. For more information about a task, click an area in the
image.
As the figure shows, managing your system is done at the repository
and community levels.
Repository administrators complete these tasks:
- Define communities
- Define users and groups
- Configure assets
- Define category schemas
- Monitor the system
- Define review processes
Community administrators complete these tasks:
- Manage users, roles, and groups
- Configure community-specific assets
- Define community-specific category schemas
- Extend repository review processes
Administrators might also perform these system management tasks:
- Designing security rules for user authentication and authorization
- Defining asset lifecycles for reviewing, approving, certifying,
publishing, and retiring assets
- Applying policies to govern how new assets, artifacts, or versions
are made available
- Monitoring performance
- Generating reports to monitor usage
- Planning for system updates, such as migrating data and deploying
system updates
- Planning and configuring for disaster recovery and backing up
data
To retrieve available system configuration information, you can
use the server setup
application summary page, the configuration report, and log files.
From the server setup application you can view the system information
of your server environment:
- To view all of the current changes that you made while using the
server setup application, click . A list of your
current changes will be displayed at the bottom of your browser view.
- While the log is in view, to view a complete record of all the
changes that the server setup application has made to your server
environment, click .
