Summary: Create category schemas and configure the repository

You learned to plan for your category schemas; implement and create your category schemas; and configure some of the main repository structural elements.

Lessons learned

In the first lesson, you imported the service-oriented architecture (SOA) model. Then you learned some best practices for creating a community to group all signed-in users by a consumer role so that they all have access to the policies and procedures recommended for use in the repository. You learned some of the best practices related to creating communities and naming asset types so that users can intuitively use the repository. You used an existing category schema as a model and duplicated the schema by using the data provided. You also learned how to use sample asset types to inform the asset types for your repository.

You modified the category schema as though you were still in the planning and configuring stages of creating the repository structure. You also learned about what users will see when finding assets after the category schema has been changed.

You should now be able to do the following tasks:
  • Use the best practices and sample data to create communities and asset types for your repository.
  • Modify the sample communities and asset types for use in your repository.
  • Create and modify a category schema.
  • Manage your category scheme for change.
