Finding assets using tags

Tags are words or phrases that users create and assign to assets. You can find assets by using your own tags or tags that are created by other users.

About this task

Tags are displayed in confined areas that are known as tag clouds. You can use tags to assign meaningful labels that are more unique and personally relevant than the predefined categories or types that an administrator creates for you.

For example, if you submitted an asset that describes new research about using color theory in website design, use tags like: "web design", color, and "color theory". You can bracket related terms with quotation marks to include more than one word as one tag. However, when doing so, spaces are removed and all letters will become lowercase; for example, typing "web design" results in the tag webdesign being created. There is no limit to how many tags you can use for an individual asset, but the best practice is that you tag using the most meaningful terms to you.

You can view all of the tags and information about how many assets are using those tags across the repository in the tag cloud, which is located on the Assets page

Procedure

  1. To see the tag cloud for the repository, click Assets.

    Assets tab

  2. If the tag cloud is not visible on the Search for Assets page, clear the search field and click Search for assets Search for assets icon. In the tag cloud, click Tag counts to make the number of assets with that tag visible.
  3. Click the name of any tag to see a list of all assets with that tag.
  4. Optional: Filter your results even further with search keywords, additional tags, and filters:
    1. To search for keywords, type keywords into the search field and click Search for assets Search for assets icon.
    2. To filter by an additional tag, in the sidebar tag cloud, click the name of any tag.
    3. To apply a filter, in the Filter your search sidebar, click the name of any filter.
  5. To remove a filter or tag that you have applied, click the filter or tag name under the search keyword field.
