Use basic keywords to search for assets. You can also use
search query terms and operators to refine your searches.
Before you begin
You must be connected to a Rational® Asset
Manager repository to search assets.
About this task
The primary method of finding assets
is to use a keyword search, which compares keywords to information
in the following sources of information about an asset:
- Names
- Descriptions and short descriptions
- Ratings
- Communities
- Categories
- Attributes and custom attributes
- Tags
- Artifacts, or files within assets
Procedure
- Open the Asset Search view. If the Asset Search
view is not open, in the Eclipse menu, click .
- Type keywords into the search field at the top of the Asset
Search view; then, click the magnifying class icon
. The Assets view will open
and results for your search query will appear in the Assets view.
- Optional: Filter your search results using
filters and tags:
- To see a listing of available filters, in the Asset
Search view, click the Filters tab.
- To see a tag cloud – a visualization of a repository's
tags – in the Asset Search view, click the Tag Cloud tab.
- Click any combination of Filters and Tags to filter
the search results.
- To remove a filter or tag that you have applied, click
the filter or tag name under the search keyword field.
- Optional: Change the scope of your search by
clicking the down arrow in the Asset Search menu bar.
You can select specific repository connections
and adjust the scope of the search with the following options:

If you are searching for assets across more than one repository
and you have created multiple Rational Asset Manager repository connections
you can specify more than one connection or select all repository
connections to search.In the Search Scope section for Repositories
click Select and then check the connections
you want to use in the search or choose Select All.
Results
After running a search or adding or removing a filter or tag,
the Assets view will open with the results of your search.
