If you prefer to remove all assets or asset metadata from
a library and place all assets or metadata in the general repository,
disassociate a library to make its contents available on the repository.
Before you begin
To work with repository libraries,
you must be a repository administrator.
About this task
Disassociating the library will place the contents of
the library into general use on the repository while also disabling
the library. You may want to do this when you have imported and enabled
a library, and you no longer want to work with libraries.
Disassociating a library is permanent.
When you disassociate a library, its assets and metadata structures
are available in the repository; however, those assets and metadata
structures no longer have the access and version controls that a library
provides.
After you have disassociated
a library, you can delete the library without deleting its assets
and metadata from the repository.
Procedure
- Log on to the Rational® Asset Manager web client as a repository
administrator.
- Click Administration.
- In the Repository Administration sidebar,
click Libraries. The Libraries page
opens. By default, all libraries on the repository are shown. To see
only enabled libraries, click View Enabled.
- To open the library to disassociate, click the version
number of the library.
- Click Disassociate. If the library
is not currently enabled, click Enable and Disassociate.
- If necessary, resolve conflicts
with the repository and with other libraries:
- Review conflicts
with other libraries that are enabled or with assets or metadata that
are active on the repository but that are not under the control of
a library.
Attention: If the
assets or asset metadata in the library that you are enabling are
on the repository and another library does not manage them, the library
that you enable will overwrite that information on the repository.
For example, if you import a library with a category schema Best
Practices that exists on the repository, the version of Best
Practices that is associated with the library will overwrite
the schema that is currently on the repository. This cannot be undone.
If
there are conflicts between libraries, the assets or metadata in the
library that you are enabling will replace the existing elements from
other libraries. To undo this, you can enable, disassociate, or revert
the other library.
- Click Disassociate or Enable
and Disassociate.
Results
The contents of the library will now be active on the repository
and the library will be disabled; the library will no longer cause
conflicts with other libraries.
After you have disassociated
a library, you can delete the library without deleting its assets
and metadata from the repository.
