When you import an asset, you are copying
it into your
workspace so that you can modify or reuse the asset. Importing an
asset is similar to downloading assets from the IBM® Rational® Asset Manager web
client. Your Permissions and Roles dictate how you can work with the
assets. For example, if you have the Download permissions,
you can import assets.
Before you begin
If the asset is associated
with a Source Control Management
(SCM) system such as CVS or Jazz™ and
you want to download the artifacts directly from the SCM, you must
have already configured active connections to the SCM repositories.
Procedure
To import an asset:
- In
the Assets or Asset repositories view, right-click an
asset and select Import Asset. Or, in the Asset
Editor view, click Import.
- You will be prompted to also import any assets that are
related to the asset that you are importing. Select any additional
assets that you want to import and click Next.
- If the artifacts that are attached to any of the
assets
are associated with a Source Control Management (SCM) system such
as CVS or Jazz, you can choose
to download the artifacts directly from source control instead of
from the Rational Asset Manager repository.
You will see a list of assets that have artifacts associated with
SCM.
- To apply the same options to all
assets, select Same
SCM configuration for all of the assets.
- To download the assets from the Rational Asset Manager repository,
select Do not import files through SCM.
- If you have access to the SCM system, to download
the
assets from source control select Import files through
SCM. Then specify if you want the most recent files, a
specific branch or stream, or create a branch or stream.
- You must
import an asset into
a project. Select an existing project folder.
- When
you import artifacts that are associated with SCM, the
appropriate projects will be created for you.
- If you
do not already have an available project in your workspace,
the New Project window will open. Name the project and click OK.
- If you have existing projects, you can also create a new project
by clicking the New Project Wizard icon.
- Click Finish. The
asset and any
related assets will be downloaded into your workspace.
- If you see a window that warns you about asset collisions,
you are downloading files from the repository that are already in
your workspace. To resolve the collisions:
- Click Yes:
The files from the repository
will overwrite those in your workspace; or,
- Click No:
If possible, the files will
be placed in the project that you defined in step 4 and the files that are already in your workspace
will not be overwritten; or
- Click Cancel:
Stops all assets from
importing into your workspace.
