To provide details about an asset in other languages when
web browsers are set to those languages, you can upload properties
files to the asset.
Before you begin
Create a properties file that contains the asset details in
the required language:
- In a text file editor, open a new document.
- Enter the name of the asset, a short description, and a description
for the asset in the following format:
name=My asset
shortDescription=This sentence is a brief overview of my asset.
longDescription=This sentence is a longer description of my asset that gives more detail than the short description.
- Save the file as asset_language-code.properties.
For example, the Spanish properties file for an asset is asset_es.properties.
- Create additional asset properties files for other languages.
You can create one .zip file that includes all
of the properties files or upload the files individually.
Procedure
To upload the files individually:
- Locate an asset and open its General Details page.
- Click Content.
- Click the Upload translation files icon
.
- Click Browse and select the properties
or .zip file that you created for the asset.
- Click Update.
- If you are uploading additional asset properties files
individually, repeat these steps.
Results
The name, short description, and description for an asset
are visible in the language that the web browser is set to.
Also,
when a user clicks Download this asset, the
asset archive that is downloaded includes the translation properties
files in the asset/com.ibm.ram.data/nl folder.
What to do next
To revise properties files from an asset, upload the modified
files with the same file name. The older versions are overwritten,
but cannot be deleted.
