Create category schemas and configure the asset repository

In this tutorial, you will learn some best practices for configuring and modifying a repository. You will modify various elements in the sample repository to create a category schema or an intuitive structure where users can submit and find assets.

As a repository administrator, you must configure your repository for company-wide consumption of assets. Ultimately, you want to create an IBM® Rational® Asset Manager server and client configuration that will make it easy for users to find existing assets and classify new ones. One of the most important structural elements of the repository is the category schema. Administrators who create strong, meaningful category schemas for their users will create a structure in the repository that facilitates asset consumption. Users search within different categories across the organization and by doing this, they can collaborate efficiently between departments.
