Adding new users and assigning roles

Add new users to a community and assign them the roles and permissions that they will use to access assets in this community.

About this task

You must have a community before you can add users to that community. If you do not see a community in the list that you want to add users to, contact your repository administrator and ask that one be created.

Procedure

  1. Log into Rational® Asset Manager web client.
  2. Open the Administration page.
  3. To open the community that you want to add new users to, click the community name.
  4. Click Add User.
  5. Type the name of the user or users that you want to add to the community, then click Search.
  6. Select the radio button next to each user's name to add them to the community.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Select roles to assign to the user or users.
  9. Click Finish.

What to do next

Tip: If the roles that are listed do not satisfy the needs of the users that you are adding, add the users and then create a new role. You can edit a user's role at any time.
