Integrate IBM® Rational® Asset Manager with IBM Rational ClearQuest® to manage change throughout
development.
About this task
Rational ClearQuest is a customizable
change management and problem tracking system. You can use it to manage
most types of change activity that is associated with software development,
such as enhancements, defects, and documentation modifications. Rational ClearQuest shortens development cycles
by unifying your entire team in the process of managing software change
requests.
- Development engineers can identify and prioritize action items
that pertain to their own sections of code.
- Technical writers can locate developers' change requests for documentation.
- Test engineers can enter software defects and then track their
status and resolutions to verify software quality.
- Project leaders and managers can collect information to help them
allocate development resources and streamline work flow.
Rational Asset
Manager integrates with Rational ClearQuest so that all members
of an organization can provide feedback on assets during the lifecycle
of an asset. For example, a marketing member who is not directly involved
in the development process can use the forum mechanism to report problems
directly to developers.
When a forum entry is added, Rational Asset Manager assigns
a unique reference ID to the entry. If the forum is configured to
use Rational ClearQuest, the process opens a Rational ClearQuest record and assigns a unique
ID to it. Rational Asset
Manager maintains this ID to reference it from Rational ClearQuest. The information for the entry
is displayed at the asset level in the Forum section of the Discussion
page. Users can view all forum discussions, including the title, description,
and responses that are associated with a particular asset.
