The embedded version of IBM® WebSphere® Application Server that
is packaged with IBM Rational® Asset Manager is
a lightweight version of the application server. You might use this
version in small environments or for testing. If you have a larger
environment, you can upgrade to full version of WebSphere Application Server to
gain the extended functionality of the server.
To upgrade,
you capture the settings for the packaged embedded version of WebSphere Application Server.
Then, you enter those settings during the server setup of the full
version of WebSphere Application Server.
Before you begin
Capture the settings from the installed embedded
WebSphere Application Server:
- Start the Rational Asset Manager server
that runs on the embedded WebSphere Application Server.
- In a web browser, type the URL of the server setup application.
For example: http://localhost:13080/ram.setup
- Click Next until you reach the Summary
page, and then verify that the current installation has no issues.
If issues exist, correct them before you continue with the server
setup.
- Click the Deployment link to return to
the beginning of the setup, and then click Previous to
return to the Introduction page.
- Back up the configuration report.
- Click .
- Right-click the page and save the file locally.
- Close the configuration report.
- In the server setup application, review each page and note the
values that you defined for the embedded WebSphere Application Server installation.
Either write the selections or take screen captures of them. The following
table shows the selections to note on each page.

Procedure
Install Rational Asset Manager on
the full WebSphere Application Server and
enter the values from the embedded WebSphere Application Server installation:
- Stop the embedded WebSphere Application Server.
- From the Rational Asset Manager launchpad,
click Install WebSphere Application Server 7.0 and
install the full version of WebSphere Application Server.
- Return to the launchpad and click Install latest
Fix Pack for WebSphere Application Server 7.0 to
install the latest application server and SDK fix packs.
- When the installation is complete, start WebSphere Application Server.
- Return to the launchpad and click Install Rational Asset Manager server to
install Rational Asset Manager on
the full version of WebSphere Application Server.
- Launch the Rational Asset Manager server
setup.
- In the setup details, enter the values that you captured
from the embedded WebSphere Application Server installation.
Important: - On the "Introduction" page: For the Rational Team Concert server,
you must select the same value that you entered for the embedded WebSphere Application Server.
Even if you created a server for the embedded WebSphere Application Server,
you must create a Rational Team Concert server
for the full installation of WebSphere Application Server.
If
you chose to work with an existing Rational Team Concert server
when prompted to install Rational Team Concert, then
you must choose that option again now. Your external Rational Team Concert server
needs to be running and the server setup application will not install
a new instance of Rational
Team Concert.
- On the "Configure Database: Part 1" page: Select You
have already created both databases and want to modify the settings.
If
you chose to work with an existing Rational Team Concert server
when prompted to install Rational Team Concert, then
you must select you have already created the database and want to
modify the settings.
- On the "Configure Rational Asset Manager settings"
page: The port for the server address changed to 9080. For example: http://host:9080
- On the "Configure Lifecycle management settings" page: If you
chose I need to install a new server for the Rational Team Concert server
option on the Introduction page, the server address changes to https://host:9443/ramjazz,
as shown in the recommended value.
- Complete the server setup and restart the server.
- Verify that no errors are in the summary.
What to do next
For Rational Asset Manager version
7.5.1, the URL for the internal Rational Team Concert server
changed from https://host:port/jazz to https://host:port/ramjazz.
If you are upgrading from a Rational Asset Manager release
earlier than 7.5.1, revise the URL references and tell your users
which changes they must make.
If you chose to install a new Rational Team Concert server
when prompted to install Rational Team Concert, then
you must provide the new URL. If you chose to work with an existing Rational Team Concert server
when prompted to install Rational Team Concert, then
you can continue to use the same URL and do not need to update it.
Update the URLs in these locations:
- The Rational Team Concert Eclipse
IDE repository connections that use the previous URL. To update a
repository connection:
- Open the Team Artifacts view.
- Expand Repository Connections.
- Right-click the Rational Asset Manager connection
and select Properties.
- Select Jazz repository connection.
- In the URI location, change the URL to http://host_name/ramjazz.
- Click OK.
- The advanced properties in the Rational Team Concert server
that use the previous URL. To update the advanced properties:
- Open Rational Asset Manager in
a web browser by using the revised URL: http://host_name/ramjazz/admin
- Log on as the administrator.
- Click .
- Update the properties that include the previous URL. For example: com.ibm.ram.repository.service.internal.RepositoryRemoteService
- The Rational Asset Manager links
that are stored in bookmarks in web browsers.
