Publishing assets to WebSphere Service Registry and Repository

Assets that contain web services documents can be published to WebSphere® Service Registry and Repository (WSRR).

Before you begin

Before assets can be published, administrators must configure the URL for the WebSphere Service Registry and Repository server and create a connection for the community that the asset resides in. Assets to be published must be in the "Approved" state before they can be published. Only one asset can be published at a time.
Important: Users must have the publish permission in order to publish assets. If the WebSphere Service Registry and Repository server requires access permissions, then the WebSphere repository account that was used to make the connection must have "create" permission to publish assets.

Procedure

To publish an asset:

  1. On the asset's General Details page, click the Publish to service registry link. The Publish wizard opens.
  2. Specify the following on the pages of the wizard:
    1. The artifacts to publish
    2. The WebSphere Service Registry and Repository connection to use
    3. The categories from the web services registry to use to classify the asset
    4. Any associated or dependent artifacts
  3. On the Confirm page, click Publish.

Results

The asset is published to the WebSphere Services Registry and Repository server as a service description concept. That concept derives from a template that includes a reference back to the asset in the Rational® Asset Manager repository.

What to do next

If you update the asset or artifacts in Rational Asset Manager, you must update the version number and publish the asset again; the concept in WebSphere Services Registry and Repository will not update if the repositories synchronize. If you do not update the version number, you will receive an error that the asset already exists.
