OSLC services and Rational Asset Manager

Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration (OSLC) is a community that is standardizing the way that lifecycle tools work together. IBM® Rational® Asset Manager supports the OSLC APIs by being a provider for the Asset Management domain and a consumer of domains that other products provide.
The following table lists the OSLC domains that Rational Asset Manager consumes and the operations that you can do with resources from those domains.

The following UI elements and operations from the Asset Management domain are supported by and available from Rational Asset Manager. The UI elements and operations are implemented for the v1 specification.

OSLC and the Rational Asset Manager REST API

The Rational Asset Manager REST APIs support and extend the OSLC Asset Management domain for performing operations on assets and artifacts.

Asset Management resources define reusable software assets for the software delivery lifecycle. Resources represent individual assets and their relationships to other shared resource types, such as communities, categories, asset types, and relationships. You can use the REST API to work with assets as transactions. You can also use asset definitions and asset search results with the set of HTTP-based REST interfaces by using the following resources:
  • GET, POST, PUT, and DELETE methods
  • HTTP response codes
  • MIME type handling
  • Resource formats

For details about these interfaces, see the Rational Asset Manager REST API documentation.

These APIs might change. For If your applications require a more stable API, use the OSLC APIs.

For reporting, you can also use report URLs to retrieve asset data. For more information, see Report URLs
