Saving search queries

You can save any combination of search keywords, filters, and tags as a query in order to have quick access to the search results later.

Before you begin

You must have an active connection to a Rational® Asset Manager repository in order to save a query.

About this task

If you are frequently using the same or similar searches for assets in your repository, you may want to save a query in order to have quick access to the search results through the Asset Repository view.

Procedure

To save a search query:

  1. In the Asset Search view, search and filter for assets using any combination of search keywords, filters, and tags. Search results will appear in the Assets view.
  2. In the Asset Search toolbar, click the Save Search Query icon Save Search Query icon. The Save Query window opens.
  3. In the Query name field, type a descriptive name for the new query.
  4. In the Save in repository field, click the repository that you want to search with the query.
  5. Click OK. The query will be saved in the Asset Repositories view.
  6. To run a query:
    1. In the Asset Repositories view, expand the repository where the query is saved.
    2. Expand the Queries folder.
    3. Double-click any query name to run it. The Asset Search view will open with the saved keywords, filters, or tags; the Assets view will open with any search results.
