Expanding your selection

You can use the Expand Selection To function to quickly select your code in a syntax-aware way.

Procedure

  1. In the EGL editor, right-click your selection and then click Expand Selection To. Four menu items are displayed.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • Click Enclosing Element to select the enclosing expression, block, or function in the code. The keyboard shortcut is Alt + Shift + Arrow Up.
    • Click Next Element to select the current and next sibling elements, or the parent element if no next sibling element is found. The keyboard shortcut is Alt + Shift + Arrow Right.
    • Click Previous Element to select the previous sibling or the parent element if no previous sibling element is found, and current elements. The keyboard shortcut is Alt + Shift + Arrow Left.
    • Click Restore Last Selection to restore the previous selection after an invocation of Expand Selection To. The keyboard shortcut is Alt + Shift + Arrow Down.
