Before version 8, EGL intercepted the CLEAR key before a Text UI program could read it. To enable the CLEAR key, set the PROGRAMUSESCLEARKEY symbolic parameter to YES.
In Java™ or Debug environments, the user can press Ctrl-L to simulate the CLEAR key. In COBOL environments, the key that is used for CLEAR depends on terminal software. For example, PCOMM uses the Pause key by default.
