If you give your DLISegment record the same name as the corresponding DL/I segment, you can omit this property.
For reasons of clarity or because of conflicts with EGL naming conventions, you might need to use different names in EGL than in DL/I for the segment name. For example, if you have a DL/I database that keeps track of students and one of the segment types is named TRANSFER, you cannot use that name for a DLISegment record in EGL, as EGL uses "transfer" as a reserved keyword. Instead, name the DLISegment record "xferStudents" and set segmentName="transfer". EGL converts all names to upper case when generating the COBOL source code, so segmentName="transfer" in your EGL source is equivalent to specifying segmentName="TRANSFER" in COBOL.
