Developing C and C++ applications for AIX and Linux - Overview
IBM® Rational® Developer for AIX and Linux
provides
an integrated set of application development tools for developing C and C++ applications for AIX® and Linux operating systems. It provides a seamless and transparent remote
development environment for C and C++ developers. C and C++ Development Tools for AIX and C and C++ Development Tools for Linux
leverage Eclipse technologies such as C/C++ Development Tools (CDT), Remote System Explorer (RSE) and Remote Development Tools (RDT). With these tools you can:
- create local/remote projects
- access your remote file system through SSH, FTP or RSE agents
- navigate and edit the remote C and C++ source files using various source knowledge tools such as type hierarchy, call graph, include browser, code editor with syntax coloring, folding, hyperlink navigation and content assist
- handle remote processes with RSE DStore agents
- compile your remote C and C++ source code with the IBM XL C/C++ compiler
- build your remote makefiles and get error feedback from the IBM XL C/C++ compiler.
IBM Rational Developer for AIX and Linux also integrates the IBM Compiled Language Debugger for debugging applications written in C, C++ and COBOL. It works on a Windows or Linux-based client that is connected remotely to a debugger engine running on AIX or Linux.
Information on how to debug with the IBM Compiled Language Debugger can be found here.
IBM XL C/C++ for AIX and IBM XL C/C++ for Linux are advanced, high-performance compilers that can be used for developing complex,
computationally intensive programs.
