Remote Systems

Option Description Default
Default system type Typically, you create a new connection in the Remote Systems view by expanding the system type beneath New Connection. However, if you click the New Connection button on the Remote Systems toolbar, then you are prompted for the system type, unless one is already specified as the default in this preference page. Off
Default user ID for each system type Specify a user ID for a system type. For example, if you specify the user ID jsmith for the Linux system type, then, the next time you create a Linux connection, jsmith is automatically entered as the user ID. Off
Show connection names prefixed by profile name When selected, each connection defined in the Remote Systems view will be prefixed with the profile that the connection belongs to. For example, a connection named "prod400" belonging to the profile "jsmith" will display as "jsmith.prod400". Off
Show filter pools in Remote Systems view When selected, your filters are grouped by filter pool in the Remote Systems view. You can also perform this action by clicking the drop-down menu from the Remote Systems view and selecting Show Filter Pools. See Configuring filter pools for more information. Off
Show "New Connection" prompt in Remote Systems view This option specifies that "New Connection" and the associated system types display in the Remote Systems view, for the purpose of creating new connections. If cleared, you can still create a new connection by right-clicking an existing connection in the Remote Systems view and selecting New > Connection. You can also click the New Connection button on the Remote Systems view toolbar . On
Re-open Remote Systems view to previous state When selected, the Remote Systems view will open to the previous state, with all folders expanded to display remote members, objects, or files. If you were previously connected to an IBM® i server, for example, then the next time you open the product, you are prompted to enter your user ID and password so that the Remote Systems view can open in the connected, expanded state. Use deferred queries in the Remote Systems view When selected, you can browse files asynchronously. What this means is that you can interact with the product while another query is not yet complete. Off
Cascade user actions and compile commands by profile When specified, user actions and compile commands are grouped by profile and displayed accordingly. Off
