Selecting Window > Preferences opens up preferences
for the workbench. These preferences describe default behavior. This
section will describe the preferences specific to AIX® COBOL.
Build Options preferences
The Build Options preference pages allows you to choose
default build options for AIX COBOL
Projects. These options are used as defaults in the New AIX COBOL Project wizard.
Default Copybook preferences
The Default Copybook preferences page describes how copy
books are resolved to help with editing of COBOL files. This list
is searched from top to bottom by the COBOL tooling.
File Templates preferences
File templates can be used when creating new AIX COBOL files. The File Templates preference
pages allows you to view, create, edit, and import/export code templates.
Margin preferences
The Margin preference pages allows users to choose
if a vertical line will appear in the editor at each COBOL area.
Source Format preferences
The Source Format preference pages allows users to choose
the line length of COBOL source files. The AIX COBOL V4.1 compiler and later allows source
files to have a width of 256 characters.
Annotations and Tools preferences
A user can set preferences for the LPEX Editor that controls
whether the editor performs real-time syntax checking and whether
the "Open Declaration", "Refactor", and "Open Hierarchy" actions are
enabled in the pop-up menu.
Templates preferences
A user can set preferences for the LPEX Editor that will
provide code template proposals for content assist (by hitting Ctrl-Space
twice).
