Changing properties

The Properties view displays the properties of the file, records, fields and keywords, and you can use it to modify these properties. Any changes you make in the Properties view are automatically reflected in the design area and in the DDS source code of the Source page. As you select different records and fields in the Source page or Design page, the context of the Properties view changes. Properties are organized by tabs such as Basic, Attributes, Indicators, and Keywords.

In the DDS Design perspective, this view is located below the Source or Design page. If you are working in a different perspective which does not include the Properties view, you can add the Properties view. Select Window > Show view > Properties, or if Properties is not listed, select Other, expand General and then select Properties. You can also right-click the Design area and select Properties from the pop-up menu to get the view into focus or added to the perspective.

To change, for example, the properties of a field:
  1. Select the field in the design area of the Design page, the Source page, or the Outline view.
  2. In the Properties view, select the tab which represents the property you want to change.
  3. Select the property.
Note: To change the properties of the file, select the file in the Outline view.
Some properties, such as Color, require you to press the Add button to add the property. It is then displayed in the list of properties. Selecting any property from the list, allows you to modify, or remove that property, or move it up or down using the Modify, Remove, Move up, or Move down buttons.
