About this task
The Remote System Explorer (RSE) uses the DDM host server
to read and write to remote members and the command server to issue
commands to the host and when debugging applications. When you connect
to an
IBM i system
with an ASP group name set, both the DDM and command servers are started
with this setting as the initial ASP group name. This makes the appropriate
set of libraries available to the RSE. For information on the Definition

Note: Setting
the ASP group name for Rational® Developer
for Power Systems Software client
connections should only be done when the job starts. The SETASPGRP
command can be issued from the RSE Commands view and it will take
effect, however it is not recommended as it places the command server
out of sync with the DDM server used to transfer members. There is
no way to simultaneously alter the environment of the DDM server job.
Once the prestarted job for the DDM server adapts to a particular
user its ASP group cannot be changed.
