About this task
Another good place to look when troubleshooting problems in the Remote
System Explorer is your Eclipse
.log file, along with your
LPEX editor log file and your Remote System Explorer communications
rsecomm.log file:
- The Eclipse .log file is located in the metadata directory
of your workspace. By default, this directory is: C:\Documents and
Settings\username\IBM\rationalsdp7.0\workspace .
- The LPEX editor.log file is located in the com.ibm.lpex plug-in,
in your \.metadata\.plugins directory. By default, this directory
is: C:\Documents and Settings\username\IBM\rationalsdp7.0\workspace\.metadata\.plugins\com.ibm.lpex.
- The Remote System Explorer communications rsecomm.log file
is located by default in C:\Documents and Settings\username\.eclipse\RSE.
You can set the logging level for the rsecomm.log file to
capture more information. Edit the rsecomm.properties file
in the following directory (by default): C:\Program Files\IBM\SDPShared\plugins\com.ibm.etools.systems.universal_version\serverruntime. Change the debug_level setting
to 3. You need to restart the product if you change the rsecomm.properties file.
You can set the logging level for your Eclipse
.log in
the Preferences: Logging page. To navigate to this preference page, click
the drop down menu

from the
Remote Systems view, and select . On the Preferences window,
click
Logging. The default is to log only errors, but
you can choose to also log warning and informational messages as well.
Note: Logging
warning and informational messages will impact performance, so remember to
undo these settings when the extra logging is no longer desired.
