Using the SQL outline view

About this task

Rational Developer for AIX and Linux uses the Data Studio pureQuery technology to add support to COBOL programs for editing EXEC SQL statements. After you add data access development support to a local or remote project, you can edit EXEC SQL statements in COBOL programs that are open in the Remote Systems LPEX Editor or the COBOL Editor. You can also populate the SQL Outline view with EXEC SQL statements from these editors.

Procedure

  1. Install the Data Tools component into Rational Developer for AIX and Linux. Rational Developer for AIX and Linux and the Data Studio and InfoSphere Optim version 4.1 products must be installed into the same client installation package group.
  2. Add data access development support to your local or remote project.
    1. In the Projects view, select a local or remote project.
    2. From the menu, select Add Data Access Development Support. The Add Data Access Development Support wizard opens.
    3. Select a database connection or create a connection.
  3. If you want to turn off data access development support, right-click the project and select Remove Data Access Development Support.
