Opening the DDS Design perspective

The DDS Design perspective is an arrangement of workbench views that are commonly used during the editing of DDS display files using Screen Designer and printer files using Report Designer. The following views are included:

To open the DDS Design perspective, select the workbench menu Window > Open Perspective > Other, select DDS Design from the list, and press OK.

The DDS Design perspective is similar to the Remote System Explorer perspective and adds the Palette, Field Table, and Source Prompter views.

As with all perspectives, you can customize the perspective by resizing views and moving views by dragging their title bars. To add a new view to the perspective, select Window from the workbench menu, select Show view and select the desired view from the list.

If the view is not listed, select Other and then find the view in the list of all available views. Expand IBM® i to find most of the IBM i specific views. Outline view, Palette view, and Properties view are listed within the General category.

When you open DDS display files using Screen Designer or printer files using Report Designer, you will be prompted to open the DDS Design perspective. Confirm Perspective Switch

To always switch to the DDS Design perspective automatically, select Remember my decision , and select Yes.
