Before you can install IBM® Rational® Developer
for i V9.1,
verify that your system meets the software requirements.
IBM i System
- IBM i
6.1, 7.1, or 7.2 with the following installed:
- 5761WDS option 60 for 6.1
- 5770WDS option 60 for 7.1 and 7.2
- IBM Rational Developer
for i V9.1 support
for the IBM i release
will end when that IBM i release
officially ends service, or when IBM Rational Developer
for i V9.1 officially
ends service.
- Some components will need additional program temporary fixes (PTFs). To
find information about any required Power® Systems server
PTFs:
- Open the Remote System Explorer perspective if it is not already
open. The name of the current perspective is shown in the top left
corner of the title bar for the Window. To open the Remote System
Explorer perspective select and select Remote System Explorer from the list.
- Create a connection to your IBM i by
expanding New Connection and double-clicking
on IBM i.
- Expand your new connection and right click on IBM i Objects.
Select Verify Connection from the menu. This
displays a dialog that shows which required PTFs are already installed
on the system and which ones are missing.
- IBM i is
needed only if the programming objects are located on the IBM i or
the applications contain backend code on the IBM i.
- To compile RPG, COBOL, C, C++, CL, or DDS on the IBM i using
the Remote System Explorer (RSE), the compilers must be installed.
Client Operating system

- Microsoft Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise
and Ultimate Edition in 32-bit and 64-bit mode
- Microsoft Windows 8 Professional and Enterprise Edition in 64-bit mode
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard
and Enterprise Edition in 64-bit mode
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Desktop 6 x86-32 and x86-64
- SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop (SLED) 11 x86-32 and x86-64
- Ubuntu 12.04 LTS x86-32 and x86-64
Other software requirements

require additional software.
