You can set preferences that control the appearance and
function of the COBOL Editor.
All preferences are accessed by clicking . There are several
preferences that affect the COBOL Editor. You can also access many
of these preferences by opening the COBOL Editor, right-mouse click
and from the pop-up menu click Preferences.
You can set the following preferences for the COBOL editor:
- The settings under General preference
are global settings that apply at the workbench level. The following
are some of these preferences that apply to the COBOL editor:
- The text font and color used by the editor.
- Content Types
- Associate resources with the editor
- File Associations
- Associate the editors available to edit a file with a certain
file extension, as well as the default editor to use.
- The COBOL preference contains settings
that are specific to the COBOL Editor.
- Editor
- There are several preferences under the Editor preference.
On the Editor preference page, you can define
which margins are displayed, where sequence numbers begin, tab stops,
and enable locating matching parenthesis in source files. Additional
preference pages include the following.
- Formatter
- Specify format of code in the editor, such as capitalization,
indentation, and line length.
- Mark Occurrences
- Specify to highlight references for selected elements in the list.
- User-defined words
- Procedural statement conditions
- Procedural statement end phrases
- Preprocessor Integration
- Customize the process for identifying preprocessor statements.
- Save Actions
- Configure editor save actions to occur when saving a source or
copybook file.
- Sequence numbers
- Manage sequence numbers in your file.
- Syntax Coloring
- Specify the appearance of code syntax in the editor.
- Task Tags
- Manage task tags used within the editor.
- Features
- Use this preferences page to modify the list of features that
can be added to programs created by the New COBOL Program wizard.
- Code Templates
- Create and manage code templates that are used to quickly add
common and constantly used code.
- Real-Time Syntax Checking
- Enable real-time syntax that causes programming errors to be identified
as you edit the file.
- Templates
- Manage the COBOL code templates are contributed to the COBOL
content assist.
- The Data Management preference contains
settings for working with EXEC SQL statements in the editor.
- Define options for content assist and real-time syntax checking
for EXEC SQL statement while using the editor.
