Managing library lists

About this task

Expand the topics in the help contents or click the related links for information on working with your library list.

Note that when you perform the following actions with your library list, the changes only apply to the current session in the current communications server job. To save the changes and therefore make them apply to all new jobs, use the Library list subsystem properties. In the Remote Systems view, right-click Objects and select Properties. Click Initial Library List and customize the properties. See the related reference link for information about specifying initial libraries and commands.

Also note that the persistent library list communications property setting is applied to all jobs related to your Remote System Explorer connection. This includes the communications server job and any interactive or batch jobs. Therefore, if you sign on to a 5250 emulator with a different user ID than the one you are using in the Remote System Explorer, you are starting with a different job description and potentially a different library list. (Also note that if you have modified your library list in the Remote System Explorer, you would also probably see a different library list when you sign on to a 5250 emulator, even using the same ID.)
