Creating, saving, and changing custom categories

You can create custom categories, export or import them, save them, delete them, and reset them to their default state.

Creating a custom category

Procedure

  1. To open the Custom Rules and Categories page of the Preferences, click Windows > Preferences > Software Analyzer > Custom Rules and Categories.
  2. Click Add Category. The Add Category wizard opens.
  3. Select a parent category for the new custom category:
    • The COBOL Code Review domain.
    • A regular category, such as Program Structures.
    • Another custom category.
  4. Click Next.
  5. Type a name for the new category and then click Finish.

Results

The custom category is created. When you create a custom category and add rules to it, the new custom category is displayed in the software analysis configuration editor, as a new rule category under the analysis domain COBOL Code Review. As with regular rules, you can then select the custom rules that you want to be active in a particular software analysis configuration.
