At runtime, a screen is created when the application writes records in a specific order to the terminal with certain field and indicator values. The state of the device, such as the display size and the cursor position also influence what the screen looks like. You can use the Preview page to simulate what the screen will look like when running your application.
Create the screen and the set of records that are in it using the Design page screen controls above the Design area. SeeUsing Screen Designer for additional information. Then switch to the Preview page by selecting the Preview tab below the design area to specify more runtime information.
In the Preview page screen controls above the main preview area, select which screen you will be previewing. Use the Records tab within those controls to specify the order in which records are written to the screen. The preview area will show you the effects of keywords such as OVERLAY, ERASE, CLRL, WINDOW, RMVWDW and SLNO when records are written in the order you specify.
Use the Indicators tab to define the states of the 99 option indicators that you use to simulate how your records are being written.
