Subsetting objects and members within a library (PDM-like support)

About this task

You can perform PDM-like actions within any library, to subset objects and members. A common shortcut in PDM is to type 12 beside a library, and then press F4 to subset objects or members within that library. Support is provided in the Remote System Explorer so that you can subset these items directly in any library. This is in addition to the standard method of expanding Work with objects or Work with members and specifying the library, to perform the same task.

To subset objects and members from a library:
  • In the Remote Systems view, expand your connection, and then expand either Objects > Library list or any filter underneath which you have library.
    • To filter objects from a library, right-click the library and select New > Object Filter. The library field in the New Object Filter wizard is automatically populated.
    • To filter members from within an object in your library, expand the library, right-click your object, and select New > Member Filter. The library and file fields in the New Member Filter wizard are automatically populated.
  • Complete the rest of these wizard as you normally would (see the related links).

You can use either the Remote Systems tree view or the Object Table view to subset from a library. This example explains how to subset items from the Remote Systems view, but the task is the same from the Object Table view except your starting point. See the related link for more information about the Object Table view.
