You can work with remote resources by defining a TCP/IP connection to a remote server. After you create a connection, you can perform actions on remote files and folders, such as editing, compiling, running, and debugging.
To configure your first connection to a remote server:
The first time you connect to a remote server, the Remote System Explorer defines a default profile. All connections, filters, and filter pools (collections of filters) are managed by profiles. Profiles help you organize information about several connections or filter pools.
Your default profile is for your local workstation.
