the behavior and layout of a single selection choice field.
Select from one of the following to control the appearance of selection
indicators in the design area:
- Restrict cursor to field
- Specifies whether the arrow keys should be allowed to move the selection
cursor outside the pulldown. The default value is no.
- Display selection indicators
- Specifies whether selection indicators appear or not. The default
value is no.
- Return when choice selected

as a choice is selected. The possible values are:
- No
- The record does not return after you select a choice. This is the
default.
- If no double digits
- The record will return after you select a choice unless a double digit
selection number is required for any of the choices.
- If enhanced display
- Enables an automatic enter only if you do not require the numeric
selection of the fields.
- Select cursored choice on return

The SPACEA keyword allows you to specify the number of lines the printer
device is to space after it performs the next print function.
- Lines to space
- Type the number of lines the printer device is to space to after it
performs the next print function. Valid line numbers are between 0 and
255.
- Note:
- An error message appears if the line number specified is too large for the
page size.
Option indicators are valid for this keyword. See the Indicators page for more information.
The SPACEB page allows you to specify the number of lines the printer
device is to space after it performs the next print function.
- Lines to space
- Type the number of lines the printer device is to space to before it
performs the next print function. Valid line numbers are between 0 and
255.
- Note:
- An error message appears if the line number specified is too large for the
page size.
Option indicators are valid for this keyword. See the Indicators page for more information.
The TXTRTT page allows you to specify the orientation of text that is
contained within a field.
- Text Rotation
- Select the desired orientation of the text that appears on a page.
Select from the following options:
- Rotate 0 degrees
- Rotate 90 degrees
- Rotate 180 degrees
- Rotate 270 degrees
The UNIQUE page allows you to specify that records with duplicate key
values are not allowed within a member of the physical or logical file.
The UNLOCK page allows you to unlock the keyboard immediately after input
operations. If you do not specify UNLOCK, the keyboard remains locked
after the OS/400 program reads the data on the display.
Select from one of the following for preventing the OS/400 program from
locking the keyboard after an input operation:
- *ERASE
- Unlocks the keyboard, erases input fields on display, and leaves their
MDTs on following the input operation. (This option is the same as
specifying UNLOCK without GETRETAIN.)
- *MDTOFF
- Unlocks the keyboard, does not erase input fields on display, and set
their MDTs off following the input operation. (This option is the same
as specifying UNLOCK with GETRETAIN.)
The VALUES page lets you specify a list of values that the user can type
into this field. The OS/400 program performs an implied equal test on
the data the user types in against the parameter values you specify for
VALUES.
You can specify from 1 to 100 values. You can specify a numeric or a
character value. A numeric value contains digits 0 through 9 and a
minus sign can precede a numeric value. Since a single DDS statement
cannot contain more than 5000 characters, you cannot specify more than 5000
characters for VALUES.
- List of valid values
- Lists the values you have specified for this field. As you add more
values, they will appear in this list. You can specify as many as 100
values.
- Add
- Adds a value to the list of valid values.
- Delete
- Removes the selected value from the list of valid values.
- Ascending order
- Sorts the values in the list of valid values in ascending order.
The VARLEN page allows you to define the field as a variable-length
field.
The VLDCMDKEY page allows you to set on an indicator when the user presses
a valid function key.

- Specifies which response indicator you want to turn on for this
keyword.
- Text
- Provides a description for this keyword and the intended use for the
indicator.
The DFNCHR page allows you to define characters of your own design at the
file or record level for 5224 and 5225 printers. You can specify DFNCHR
more than once at the file or record level.
- Coded font
- Lists the code point and dot matrix patterns which make up a new character
definition. There can be up to 50 character definitions.
- Code point
- Specifies the code point you want to use for the DFNCHR keyword.
You can use any assigned or unassigned code point except hex 00.
- Dot matrix pattern
- Specifies the dot matrix pattern. You can use any assigned or
unassigned code point except hex 00. To define the dot matrix pattern,
specify nine 2-digit pairs of hexadecimal digits in the entry field or select
the appropriate check boxes to automatically generate the hex string.
- Add
- Adds the code point and dot matrix patterns to the list box.
- Change
- Changes the selected coded font to reflect the current settings.
- Delete
