Typically, you create a new connection in the Remote
Systems view by expanding the system type beneath New Connection.
However, if you click the New Connection button on the Remote Systems toolbar, then you are prompted for the system
type, unless one is already specified as the default in this preference page. |

| Default user ID for each system type |
Specify a user ID for a system type. For example, if
you specify the user ID jsmith for the Linux system type, then, the next time
you create a Linux connection,
jsmith is automatically entered as the user ID. |

| Show connection names prefixed by profile name |
When selected, each connection defined in the Remote
Systems view will be prefixed with the profile that the connection belongs
to. For example, a connection named "prod400" belonging to the profile "jsmith"
will display as "jsmith.prod400". |

When selected, your filters are grouped by filter pool
in the Remote Systems view. You can also perform this action by clicking the
drop-down menu from the Remote

When selected, the Remote Systems view will open to
the previous state, with all folders expanded to display remote members, objects,
or files. If you were previously connected to an IBM® i server, for example, then the next time you open the product, you are prompted
to enter your user ID and password so that the Remote Systems view can open
in the connected, expanded state. |

When selected, you can browse files asynchronously.
What this means is that you can interact with the product while another query
is not yet complete. |
