An indicator is a two-digit variable (01, 02, 03, ... 98, 99) that you can turn on or off. You use indicators to determine whether or not a particular event will occur during processing. By setting the indicators 'on' or 'off', you can set up conditions to enable keywords, fields, and help specifications on display files and printer files.
The CODE Designer provides two predefined sets of named indicators, Ignore all indicators and All indicators are off, which you can use on your Design page. You can create named sets of indicators that you frequently use while designing a DDS screen or report in the Design page.
For example, you could create a named indicator set that is called OverCredit that corresponded to indicator 31. This named indicator set would turn a field red, position the cursor to it, and pop-up a text constant beside it saying 'Credit Limit Exceeded'. You could then select the named indicator set from the drop-down listbox on the Design page to view your screen under this condition.
Named indicator sets are an added feature within the CODE Designer. The program stores them as special comments in the DDS source.
