Use the number command to add sequence numbers
to the file, and activate number mode:
Syntax
number [seqnumType]
num [seqnumType]
Parameters
- seqnumType
- Use the parameter seqnumType to activate or deactivate
number mode. Specify one of the following values:
- cob activates number mode for sequence numbers
in columns 1 to 6.
- on is the default and activates number mode for
sequence numbers in columns 73 to 80.
- off deactivates number mode. Sequence numbers
are not removed from the file.
- std is equivalent to on.
Status
The status parameter
is not affected by this command.
Description
- LPEX automatically ensures, throughout the edit session, that
every line has a valid sequence number.
- Sequence numbers are displayed only in the prefix area, and cannot
be edited by the user.
- Sequence numbers are excluded from text searches (but they can
be searched with the locate command).
- Line commands that operate on existing sequence numbers, such
as resequence, are enabled.
