Copying and pasting in the Remote System Explorer

About this task

You can copy and paste files, objects, or members not only between libraries and objects on the IBM® i server, but between different servers as well. For example, you can copy a file from one library in your IBM i server to another, or from your IBM i to your Linux server. You can select multiple items as well. You can also copy and paste items within an archive, from a non-archived location into an archive, and vice versa. However, there are guidelines for what kinds of items you can and cannot copy and paste. You can copy and paste source physical files and objects between different libraries on your IBM i server. You cannot copy objects between systems. To copy and paste items:

Procedure

  1. In the Remote Systems view, expand the two connections (that represent the two servers) until you see the item you want to copy and the location on the other server where you want to paste the item.
  2. Right-click the original item to select it and select Copy
  3. Navigate through the directories and files until you find the place where you want to paste the item.
  4. Right-click on the directory into which you want to paste your item, and select Paste.
