Help specification properties

The Help specification properties notebook defines an association between an area of the display for which the program enables cursor-sensitive help. This notebook also defines the text which appears when the help key is pressed in that area. This notebook contains the following tabbed pages:

Text page

The Text page defines what text appears when the help key is pressed.

Format
Specifies the format of the text. The following formats are available:

DDS record (HLPRCD)
Displays another display file with the text when you select Help. You can specify the location of the text by entering the name of the File, Library, and Record. If the Library or File fields are blank, the program assumes *LIBL and the file which contains this help-specification.

Office document (HLPDOC)
Displays an OfficeVision/400 document with the text when you select Help. You can specify the location of the text by entering the name of the Folder, Document, and Label.

UIM panel group (HLPPNLGRP)
Displays a module from an UIM panel group object with the text when you select Help. You can specify the location of the text by entering the name of the Panel group, Library, and Module.
Conditioning:
You can specify the condition under which the current help specification is in effect by selecting the

push button.

Boundary of extended help (HLPBDY)
Marks this help specification as the last one in a sublist of help specifications available as extended help.

Not available as extended help (HLPEXCLD)
Specifies that this help specification will not be available as extended help.

Area page

The Area page contains information about the selected area for which you are specifying cursor-sensitive help.

Rectangle
Displays the text when the cursor is in the rectangle that is defined by the coordinates on this page.

Entire record (*RCD)
Displays the text when the cursor is in the record. The record area is the full width of the display, window, or pull-down menu. It extends from the row the first field begins on, to the row the last field ends on.

Secondary help only (*NONE)
Displays the text through secondary help.

Named field (*FLD)
Displays the text when the cursor is on the specified field. If the field is a choice or a push button field, select Choice number to specify the value with which the help is associated.
Note:
If you select a field on the Design page before creating a help specification, the program automatically fills in this check box. In addition, the field name is identified in the combination box. If you selected a choice in a choice field, the program selects the choice number in that combination box as well.

Constant field (*CNST)
Displays the text when the cursor is on the constant which has a matching HLPID keyword.

Same position in both display sizes
Specifies that only one keyword exists for both the 24x80 and 27x132 display sizes. If this checkbox is empty, independent keywords for each display size exists. These keywords appear in the list box below where you can select which keyword to change.

Styles

The Styles page allows you to change the default name settings for any newly created help specifications. Depending on the selected format of the help specification, the entry fields you can define will vary.

HLPRCD
You can specify the Default file name and the Default library name.

HLPDOC
You can specify the Default document name and the Default folder name.

HLPPNLGRP
You can specify the Default panel group name and the Default library name.
