Program Verifiers - ILE COBOL

Option Description Default
Generate listing When requesting program verification, you can produce an output listing, similar to what is produced by a host compile. Off
Show source: The compiler produces a source listing consisting of the COBOL source input and all compilation-time error messages. Off
Show cross references: The compiler produces a cross-reference listing for the source program. Off
Show Data division map: The compiler lists Data Division map. Off
Show Listing options in effect: The options in effect are listed for this compilation. Off
Show verb-usage counts: Verb-usage counts are shown. Off
Insert comment lines: The compiler inserts comment lines in the compiler listing indicating which elementary items were included as a result of the CORRESPONDING phrase. Off
Imbed errors: The first level error message text is embedded into the compiler listing under the lines in error. Off
Check reference numbers: Reference numbers are checked for sequence errors. Off
Reference number: Specifies the numbers to use for sequence numbers. Click the down arrow to select one of the following:
  • *NUMBER: Indicates that the user-supplied sequence numbers (columns 1 through 6) are used for reference numbers.
  • *LINENUMBER: Uses the sequence numbers created by the compiler for reference numbers. This option combines COBOL/400 main file source code and COPY member source code into one consecutively numbered sequence. Requires you to specify FIPS flagging or SAA flagging (SAA flagging only applies to OPM COBOL/400).
  • *NONUMBER: Uses the source-file sequence numbers for reference numbers.
Delimiter: Specifies which delimiter is used for nonnumeric literals and Boolean literals. Click the down arrow to select one of the following:
  • Quote: Uses (") as the delimiter for nonnumeric, hexadecimal, and Boolean literals. The value of the figurative constant QUOTE has the EBCDIC value of a quotation mark. (*QUOTE is the equivalent value on the OPTION parameter of the CRTCBLPGM, CRTCBLMOD, and CRTBNDCBL commands).
  • Apostrophe: Uses the apostrophe (') as the delimiter for nonnumeric, hexadecimal, and Boolean literals. The value of the figurative constant APOST has the EBCDIC value of an apostrophe. (*APOST is the equivalent value on the OPTION parameter of the CRTCBLPGM, CRTCBLMOD, and CRTBNDCBL commands).
Lines per page: The number of lines per page of the output listing file: 1 through 120. 66
