About this task
The Remote System Explorer uses the DDM host server (DRDA® port
446)
to read and write to remote members. If you are not able to edit
IBM® i members,
the following list explains some of the possible problems and their solutions:
- The DDM host server is not started. Start the DDM host server by typing
the following CL command from a 5250 prompt: STRTCPSVR *DDM.
- A firewall is blocking the TCP/IP connection from your local workstation
to port 446 on the IBM i server.
This firewall could have been installed on the workstation, on the network,
or on the i server.
To solve this problem, you need to configure a rule for the firewall to allow
for a connection from your workstation to port 446 on the i server.
- Your user profile is not authorized to use the DDM host server. Contact
your systems administrator to obtain authorization.
- An exit program associated with the DDM host server is blocking read,
and/orwrite requests.
- Your IBM i user
profile is associated with a nonexistent job description. Create the job description
referred to by your user profile or update your user profile to use a valid
job description.
