Distributing configurations to client workstations

Use push-to-client to upload software analysis configurations or baseline analysis configurations to the Rational® Developer for z Systems™ server and to distribute them to client workstations.

About this task

Push-to-client provides centralized distribution of software analysis configurations and baseline analysis configurations. Configurations are stored on a centralized server and are then pushed out to client workstations when the clients connect to the server.

To use push-to-client, you first configure a remote z/OS® system as a push-to-client primary system. There might also be nonprimary systems that shadow the primary system. The next step is to create a master workspace on one workstation and configure connections between that workstation and the push-to-client server. The final step is to export software analysis configurations and baseline analysis configurations from the master workspace workstation to the push-to-client server.

When a user at a client workstation connects to a primary or nonprimary push-to-client server, the push-to-client components determine whether there are configurations to be downloaded to the client. If so, then a message is displayed on the client workstation and the configurations on the push-to-client server are downloaded.

Note: For detailed information about configuring push-to-client, see Distribution of updates by using push-to-client.
