When you open a file in the System z® LPEX Editor or PL/I Editor, an
outline of the file opens in the Outline view.
About this task
When you open a file, the Outline view
provides toolbar items and a menu for filtering the parts of a program.
From this view, you can show or hide different parts of the program
according to their division, expand and collapse the outline, and
show or hide parts of the program according to their name.
Sorts sibling nodes in the outline in ascending order by name.
Hides nested data items in the Outline view.
Hides on-units in the Outline view.
Hides labels in the Outline view.
Hides include files in the Outline view.
Shows a list of functions to perform on the Outline view
data.
Expand Outline
Select Expand Outline to expand the selected
program section.
Collapse Outline
Select Collapse Outline to collapse the
selected program section.
Filters
Select Filters to define a search argument
to limit the program data items shown based on the name value that
is specified as the search argument. You can use a wildcard to narrow
or broaden the search scope.
Link with Editor
If enabled, when you place the cursor on a line in the editor,
the Outline view expands to display the corresponding
node.
