filename

Optional.

Specifies the name of the DDS source file to be loaded into a Record List window. A file is either an OS/400 member or a local file.

If the file exists, it is loaded into CODE Designer.

If the file does not exist, a brand new untitled file will be created in CODE Designer. If the type is not explicitly given using the /T parameter, then CODE Designer assigns a DDS file type based on the extension of the file. The extensions .dspf or .dsp will create DSPF source files while .prtf and .prt will create PRTF source files. If the type is not explicitly given and cannot be determined from the extension or the information stored about the file in the registry, CODE Designer will assume the file should be a DSPF.

For DDS source saved under the OS/400 system, the format of filename is:

"<server>library/file(member)"

The double quotation marks (") and the angle brackets (< >) are required.

The server receives and processes requests that a workstation application makes to a specific iSeries host. The name of the server is optional, but when not specified, the first server available is used to find the file and the member.

If a library is not specified, your iSeries library list (*LIBL) is used to find the file and the member.

For example, to open an OS/400 member, type one of the following:

codedsu "<>file(member)"
codedsu "<>library/file(member)"
codedsu "<server>library/file(member)"

For DDS source saved locally the format of the filename is:

drive:\path\file

The parameters drive: and \path\ are optional.

For example, to open the local file PARIS.DDS, type one of the following:

codedsu paris.dds
codedsu a:\main\dds\paris.dds

If your file system allows long file names, the Code Designer feature will support them up to a limit. A fully qualified file name, which encompasses the names of the disk, directories and file, can be up to 254 characters long. In addition, there can be no more than 250 characters to the left of the file's extension.
