Setting a keyring password

About this task

For extra security, you can set your keyring password in your Windows shortcut to Rational® Developer for Power Systems Software. The workbench uses a keyring password to store your saved passwords, public or private encryption keys, and Remote System Explorer passwords. If you do not set a keyring password, Eclipse uses a default password.
Note: When you set a keyring password you lose any saved passwords you might have in the workbench IDE.
To set your keyring password:

Procedure

  1. From the Start menu, select All Programs > IBM Software Delivery Platform > IBM Rational Developer for Power Systems Software V9.5 and let your mouse hover above the IBM Rational Developer for Power Systems Software executable shortcut.
  2. Right-click while your mouse hovers over the shortcut and select Properties.
  3. In the Properties dialog box, click the Shortcut tab if you are not already there by default.
  4. Scroll to the end of the text in the Target field, and add the following: -password your_password where your_password is a password you can choose right now for your keyring access. You only need to do this once.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Restart the workbench.
