Filtering library lists

About this task

Library list filters display the *LIBL library list from your IBM® i server in the Remote Systems view. When expanded, they supply the same actions as a library filter, with additional actions for manipulating the library list. If you are using your default profile, the wizard tells you that you already have a library list. Therefore, this action only applies if you are using a team profile, or an additional personal profile.
Note: A Library list filter is already created for you by default in the Remote System Explorer. If you want to work with more than one library list, you first need to create a filter pool as a new division for all of your filters, and then work with that filter pool to create an additional library list filter. See Configuring filter pools for more information.

Procedure

  1. In the Remote Systems view, expand your connection, and then expand Objects.
  2. Right-click Objects, or your filter pool, and select New > Library List Filter.
Note: This action corresponds to the EDTLIBL command in PDM.
  3. Enter a name for the filter.
  4. Select the Only create filter in this connection check box if you want the filter to display only in your current connection. Otherwise, it displays in all your connections.
  5. Select the profile you want to use for this filter. Use an individually created profile to keep your work private or select the Team profile to share with others.
  6. Click Next and click Finish.

Results

Your new library list filter now displays in the Remote Systems view under Objects.
Tip: You can drag and drop filters from one subsystem or filter pool to another. However, they need to be of the same subsystem type. Also, if you drag a filter into another filter, the target filter is updated with filter strings from the first filter, to combine them.
