Creating your own command set

About this task

The Commands subsystem provides the ability to create a set of commands that you can run as one command, from the Remote Systems view, to save time when you want to run multiple commands at once. All commands that are contained in the command set are run when you expand the command set. To create a command set:

Procedure

  1. In the Remote Systems view, expand the Commands subsystem.
  2. Expand Your command(s).
  3. Specify an IBM® i command in the Command field.
  4. Select Prompt when run to prompt the command when it is run to modify the parameters.
  5. Select the run environment for this command: Normal, Batch, or Interactive. (See Running programs and commands for more information.)
  6. Click Next.
  7. Specify a unique name for the command set.
  8. (Optional) Click next to read more information about command sets.
  9. Click Finish.

Results


To run the commands, expand the command set, or right-click on the command set and select Run.

To add another command to your command set:
  1. Right-click on the command set in the Remote Systems view.
  2. Select Change.
  3. Specify the command to add on the Change Command Set dialog box.
  4. Click OK.
