ILE RPG Programmer's Guide
Passing Character Parameters from Java to
Native Methods
You have two choices when dealing with character parameters:
- If you want your Java™ code
to be a simple as possible, define the parameter as a String in your Java native method declaration. Your RPG code
would have to retrieve the value of the string itself (see Using String Objects in RPG).
- If you want the character data to be immediately available to
your RPG program, code the parameter in the Java native
method declaration as a byte array or a char array, and code it in
your RPG prototype as a character field, UCS-2 field, or a Date, Time
or Timestamp. That way, RPG will handle the conversion for you.
