If you are using an MVS™ server
8.0.3 or later, you can edit EBCDIC DBCS source in COBOL, JCL, and
PL/I files. However, not all editor features are available.
The following editor features are not available when you edit EBCDIC
DBCS code in the COBOL, JCL, and PL/I Editors:
- Indentation formatting, which is defined by the Formatter preference
- Manage sequence numbers, which is defined by the Sequence Numbers
preference
- Hexadecimal editing
- Refactor actions
- Line and column number reflects the character column and not the
byte column
- Split tokens that include DBCS characters are not supported
Note: Remote DBCS characters are not supported on an MVS server before version 8.0.3. Files containing
remote DBCS characters can be opened in read-only mode only. Use
the System z® LPEX Editor
to edit these files.
