Developing C and C++ applications for AIX and Linux
You can use IBM® Rational® Developer for AIX and Linux to develop your C/C++ applications for AIX and Linux.
The steps to get started are:
- Make sure you have installed the AIX or Linux server component on the remote system. The AIX or Linux server must be set up and running.
Please refer to the installation instructions in the Installation Guide for details.
- Establish the remote connection between your client workstation and the remote host.
- Create a new Local/Remote C/C++ project or alternatively, import multiple remote C/C++ projects.
- Create your source files, remotely edit, and build your C/C++ applications on the remote host.
Once you have your project set up, your source files created, and your build environment configured, you can:
- Compile your code on the remote host using IBM XL C/C++ for AIX or
IBM XL C/C++ for Linux compiler.
- Use the IBM Compiled Language Debugger to remotely debug your C/C++ code on the remote host.
You can also configure your C/C++ project to work Rational Team Concert (RTC). For more information see Working with Rational Team Concert (RTC).
