Create a software analysis configuration to
define coding rules and the files to which the rules apply.
Before you begin
Before you can create an analysis configuration, you must
complete these steps:
- Open one of the following perspectives: Enterprise Development,
or AIX COBOL.
- Create a project and add
COBOL source code files to it.
Procedure
These instructions assume that you are creating a software
analysis configuration for a local project. You can select other scope
options in the software analysis configuration editor and you can
override the configured scope at run time.
- Open the software
analysis configuration editor. For information about various methods of opening the editor,
see Opening the software analysis configuration editor.
- In the left pane of the editor, you can create a software
analysis configuration from scratch, or create one that is based on
an existing configuration.
- To create a software analysis configuration, do one of the
following steps:
- Click
on the toolbar.
- Right-click any node in the Software Analyzer tree
and then click New.
- Double-click the Software Analyzer node
at the top of the tree.
- To create a configuration that is based on an existing one,
do one of the following steps:
- Select the existing configuration in the Software Analyzer tree
and then click
on the toolbar.
- Right-click the existing configuration in the Software
Analyzer tree and then click Duplicate.
Tip: - If the button or the menu item is disabled, then enable it by
selecting any node in the Software Analyzer tree.
- If the Software Analyzer tree is not visible,
show it by clearing the filter input field.
- In the Name field, enter a name
for the new software analysis configuration.
- On the Scope tab, select Analyze
selected projects and select the project that you want
to review. For more information about setting the scope
for an analysis, see Scope and rules for a software analysis configuration.
- On the Rules tab, select the rules
that you want to use in the code review.
- In the Analysis Domains and Rules tree,
expand the COBOL Code Review domain.
- Expand a rule category, such as Program Structures.
- Select a rule, such as Avoid ACCEPT statements.
- On the Properties tab:
- Set the severity for the rule. For more information about severity
levels, see Severity levels.
- Set the value of any custom parameter.
- To save or undo your selections, do one of the following
steps:
- To save your analysis configuration, click Apply.
- To undo the changes since the most recent Apply,
click Revert.
- To close the software analysis configuration editor, do
one of the following steps:
- To close the editor and run the software analysis configuration,
click Analyze. For more information about running

- To close the editor, click Close.
