Populating the SQL outline view

About this task

You can populate the SQL Outline view from the Remote Systems LPEX Editor or COBOL Editor. In this view you can edit EXEC SQL statements.

Procedure

  1. Add data access development support to your local or remote projects. See Using the SQL outline view for information about adding data access development support. After adding support to your project, no SQL statements from any files will be automatically added. You need to specifically add each file one by one.
  2. Open a COBOL program that contains EXEC SQL statements with the Remote Systems LPEX Editor or COBOL Editor.
  3. To add a COBOL file to the SQL outline view, open it in COBOL editor or the Remote Systems LPEX editor, right-click and select Extract SQL. Note: changes will not be automatically reflected. If you make changes to an embedded SQL statement, run the action again to have it reflected.

Results

If you double-click a query in the SQL Outline view, the editor is positioned at the line of source code that contains the query.
