User-written custom rules are implemented by Java™ classes that call the Custom Rules API
for COBOL Code Review and the COBOL Application Model API (CAM) to
analyze source code files.
About this task
To create a user-written custom rule, do the following steps:
- Generate a plug-in project for COBOL code review.
- Create Java code that calls
the Custom Rules API for COBOL Code Review and the COBOL Application
Model API (CAM) to analyze source code files.
- Install the user-written custom rule plug-in into the development workbench.
Each of these steps is described in the following topics.
After
you create a COBOL code review project, you can add more user-written
custom rules to it. The procedure for adding rules to a project is
described in Adding a rule to an existing rule plug-in project.
Note: User-written
custom rules are different from custom categories and custom rules.
User-written custom rules are implemented by Java classes and are supported only for COBOL
code review. Custom categories and rules are created and configured
with wizards and windows. For more information about custom categories
and rules, see
Custom categories and rules.
