Positioning objects and source members in the Object Table view

About this task

The positioning of objects in the Object Table view is similar to the "position to" and "position to type" functions in PDM.

To position items in the Object Table view:

Procedure

  1. In the populated Object Table view, click the drop-down menu and select Position to. See the related link for information on how to display items in the view.
  2. In the Name field, you can click the drop-down arrow and select either *TOP or *BOTTOM, or you can enter the name (or partial name) of the item that currently resides in the location where you want your item to appear.
  3. In the Type field, (only for objects) you can either leave the default as asterisk, or enter the type, rather than the name, of the item that currently resides in the location where you want your item to appear. If you do not specify the type, then the first type that is displayed or visible at the top of the view is used.
    • You can also invoke the Position to dialog box by entering the first letter of the name that you want to position in the table. In addition, if you press Shift-D repeatedly, the wizard will cycle through all the names that start with D. This works for all other letters as well.
    • Tip: If you begin typing when the Object Table view has focus then the Position to dialog box opens automatically.
