Exporting a configuration to a push-to-client server

Export a software analysis configuration or baseline analysis configuration from the master workspace workstation to a push-to-client server.

Before you begin

Before you can export a configuration, you must complete the following steps:

About this task

Exporting a configuration generates an XML file that contains information about the configuration and uploads the file to a Rational Developer for z Systems server. For more information about the export function, see Exporting push-to-client configuration files.

Procedure

To export a software analysis configuration or baseline analysis configuration, follow these steps. You do not need to open the software analysis configuration window to complete this procedure.

  1. On your workstation, open Rational Developer for z Systems so that it uses the master workspace.
  2. In the Remote Systems Explorer, verify that you have an active connection to the push-to-client primary system. If you want to export the configuration to more than one push-to-client server, verify the connection to each server.
  3. Click File > Export from the Eclipse menu. The Export wizard opens.
  4. Click Rational Developer for System z > Configuration Files and then click Next.
  5. To export global configuration files, in the Global configuration group, select Software Analyzer Configurations. For more information, see Defining connections, configuration files, and preferences for push-to-client configuration.
  6. To verify that you have a working connection, you can select Show export properties. The wizard displays the export path and other properties for each type of configuration in the list. Verify that the properties are displayed for the Software Analyzer Configurations selection.
  7. Click Next. On the third and any subsequent pages, you can export system configuration files. If the Remote Systems Explorer has an active connection to more than one push-to-client server, then the Export wizard displays a separate "System configuration files" page for each connected push-to-client server. For more information, see Defining connections, configuration files, and preferences for push-to-client configuration.
  8. On the final page, click Finish. The Selection Needed window opens.
  9. Select the configurations that you want to export and click OK. The configurations that you selected are uploaded to the specified push-to-client servers. The wizard closes.
    • If the operation is successful, the wizard does not display a message.
    • If the operation fails, the wizard displays an error message.
