Creating data areas

About this task

In the Remote System Explorer, you can create data areas in libraries on your IBM® i server, similar to the CRTDTAARA command in PDM.

To create a data area:

Procedure

  1. In the Remote Systems view, expand your connection, expand Objects > Library list.
  2. Right-click the library in which you want to create the data queue, and select New > Data Area.
  3. Enter the name of the data area you want to create, or click Browse to select a data area from a specific library. If you choose to browse to an existing data area, you need rename it after it appears in the Data area field.
  4. Select the type of Data area you want to create.
  5. (Optional) Add a description in the Text field.
  6. (Optional) Click Next to define advanced options for your data queue, such as authority, length information, or the initial value.
  7. Click Finish.

Results

Your new data area now displays under your selected Library.
