Use the Remote System Explorer to edit your source files directly
with the Remote Systems LPEX editor.
You can edit source physical file members and display, change,
and save source members in your source physical files through the
Objects subsystem, using the Remote Systems LPEX editor. The following
table indicates supported features in the editor with an asterisk
(*). Click on each link to find more information on each type of editing
task.
Note: All non-ILE RPG source is treated by the editor as though
it were RPG/400 source. Non-ILE RPG source includes RPG/400, System/36
Compatible RPG II, and System/38 Compatible RPG III.
Restriction: The Remote Systems LPEX editor
does not support the editing of source members from the QTEMP library.
Note: During development, your file is locked on the remote system
so that others cannot change it. Accordingly, if you attempt to edit
a locked member, the workbench informs you that the file is in use
and allows you to open the member in browse (read-only) mode. Also
note that the workbench releases these locks on remote members if
you disconnect from a subsystem or shut down the workbench while remote
members are open in the editor. For more information on opening a
locked source member and saving a source member in the Remote System
LPEX editor, see "Editing RPG, COBOL, CL, C, C++, and DDS members"
in the following list of related topics.
