Remote objects are those objects that can be added to your
project from the associated library that you specified for the project.
About this task
To import remote objects:Perform either of the
following two choices:
Procedure
- Right-click on the name of your i Project,
and perform the following steps:
- Select Import Remote Objects.
- In the Import Remote Objects dialog, you can import IBM i resources
from an existing connection or create a new connection. Expand or
create a library filter under the connection that you want, then expand
the library and choose the IBM i resource to import.
- Click OK.
The selected IBM i resources are copied into your project.
- Right-click an IBM i resource in the Remote System Explorer,
and perform the following steps:
- Select Add to i Project.
The system prompts you to specify which project you want to add the
IBM i resource to.
- Select the project name.
- Click OK. The system downloads the IBM
i resources to the selected project.
Example
To show remote objects: To show remote objects
that are not in your project, but exist in the associated library,
right-click the project and select Show Remote Objects from
the pop-up menu. This action will display the objects in the associated
library merged with the IBM i resources that are in your project.
To
add a resource to the local project when the remote objects are shown,
right-click the name of an IBM i resource and select Add
to Project. You can add resources to a project this way
rather than importing remote objects (as described above).
The
decorations on the icons show whether the object exists only on the
server, only in your workspace, or on both the server and the workspace.
