Autostart server (AUTOSTART)

Specifies whether to automatically start the OMPROUTED server when TCP/IP is started by the STRTCP command or STRTCPSVR SERVER(*AUTOSTART). The OMPROUTED server handles the RIP and OSPF routing protocols. Since this parameter value refers to the OMPROUTED server, it can also be affected by the Autostart server parameter on the Change OSPF Attributes (CHGOSPFA) command.

*SAME
The Autostart server value that was previously set does not change; otherwise, *YES is used.
*YES
Automatically start the OMPROUTED server.
*NO
Do not automatically start the OMPROUTED server.

Condition (COND)

Specifies the condition for when RIP is going to advertise this router as a default router. This parameter along with the Accept default (ACPDFT) and Cost (COST) parameters indicate under what conditions RIP supports Default route generation. The Default route is considered as destination/mask 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0 for IPv4.

Note: The parameters mentioned above determine whether or not a default route is considered available by OMPROUTED RIP. The Send default routes (SNDDFTRTE) parameter on a configured RIP Interface determines whether or not an available default route is advertised by that particular RIP interface.

*SAME
The Condition option value that was previously set does not change; otherwise, *ALWAYS is used.
*ALWAYS
Always originate RIP default.
*OSPF
Advertise this router as a default RIP router if there are any OSPF routes available.
*NEVER
Never advertise this router as a default router.

Accept default (ACPDFT)

Specifies whether or not OMPROUTED RIP accepts default routes from inbound RIP packets whose cost is higher than default routes originated by the host.

Note: OMPROUTED RIP always accept default routes from inbound RIP packets whose cost is lower than default routes originated by the host.

*SAME
The accept default option that was previously set does not change; otherwise, *NO is used.
*YES
Indicates that OMPROUTED RIP replaces this router's originated default route with a default route learned from inbound RIP packets, even if that learned default route has a higher cost than this router's originated default route.

Note: When *YES is set, this router's originated default route is only used if no other default routes are learned from inbound RIP packets.

*NO
Indicates that OMPROUTED RIP replaces this router's originated default route with a default route learned from inbound RIP packets only when the learned RIP route has a lower cost than this router's originated default route.

Note: When this parameter value is set to *NO, the Condition (COND) parameter is set to *ALWAYS and the Cost (COST) parameter is set to 1, OMPROUTED RIP never accepts default routes learned from RIP packets because it is not possible to learn a RIP route whose cost is less than 1.

Cost (COST)

Specifies the cost that RIP advertises with the default route that it originates.

*SAME
The cost option that was previously set does not change; otherwise, 1 is used.

Specify the value of the cost. The cost of a route is a factor in determining the desirability of the route. The cost value increases at least one for every hop that the RIP package jumps. Desirability decreases as the cost (distance) increases. A cost value of 16 is considered unreachable (an infinite distance away).

Send only (SNDONLY)

Allows for the specification of the types of routes that are going to be included in advertisements sent over RIP interfaces. The value set in this parameter will apply to all RIP interfaces.

Single values

*SAME
The send only option that was previously set does not change; otherwise, *ALL is used.
*ALL
Specifies no send restrictions.

Other values (up to 3 repetitions)

*VIRTUAL
Sends virtual IP addresses.
*DEFAULT
Sends the default route.
*DIRECT
Sends direct routes.
*TRIGGERED
Only sends routes when requested or when route becomes inactive (metric 16).

IPv6 condition (IP6COND)

Specifies the condition for when RIPng is going to advertise this router as a default router. This parameter along with IPv6 accept default (IP6ACPDFT) and IPv6 cost (IP6COST) indicate under what conditions RIPng supports Default route generation. The Default route is considered as destination/prefix ::/0 for IPv6.

Note: The parameters mentioned above determine whether or not a default route is considered available by OMPROUTED IPv6 RIP. The Send default routes (SNDDFTRTE) parameter on a configured RIPng Interface determines whether or not an available default route is advertised by that particular RIPng interface.

*SAME
The IPv6 condition option value that was previously set does not change; otherwise, *ALWAYS is used.
*ALWAYS
Always originate RIPng default.
*OSPF
Advertise this router as a default RIPng router if there are any OSPF routes available.
*NEVER
Never advertise this router as a default router.

IPv6 accept default (IP6ACPDFT)

Specifies whether or not OMPROUTED IPv6 RIP accepts default routes from inbound RIPng packets whose cost is higher than default routes originated by the host.

Note: OMPROUTED IPv6 RIP always accept default routes from inbound RIPng packets whose cost is lower than default routes originated by the host.

*SAME
The accept default option that was previously set does not change; otherwise, *NO is used.
*YES
Indicates that OMPROUTED IPv6 RIP replaces this router's originated default route with a default route learned from inbound RIPNG packets, even if that learned default route has a higher cost than this router's originated default route.

Note: When *YES is set, this router's originated default route is only used if no other default routes are learned from inbound RIPng packets.

*NO
Indicates that OMPROUTED IPv6 RIP replaces this router's originated default route with a default route learned from inbound RIPng packets only when the learned IPv6 RIP route has a lower cost than this router's originated default route.

Note: When this parameter value is set to *NO, the IPv6 condition (IP6COND) parameter is set to *ALWAYS and the IPv6 cost (IP6COST) parameter is set to 1, OMPROUTED RIP never accepts default routes learned from RIP packets because it is not possible to learn a RIP route whose cost is less than 1.

Examples

Example 1:Changing the Autostart option

CHGRIPA AUTOSTART(*YES)

This command changes the OMPROUTED server to autostart when the STRTCPSRV SERVER(*AUTOSTART) command is executed. This option can also be affected by the AUTOSTART parameter in the Change OSPF Attributes(CHGOSPFA) command.

Example 2:Setting the RIP Default route generation options

CHGRIPA COND(*ALWAYS) ACPDFT(*NO) COST(2)

This command changes the conditions which will be used to generate the IPv4 Default route (destination/mask 0.0.0.0/0.0.0.0). These three parameters are related to the IPv4 Default route.

Example 3:Setting the RIPng Default route generation options

CHGRIPA IP6COND(*ALWAYS) IP6ACPDFT(*NO) IP6COST(3)

This command changes the conditions which will be used to generate the RIPng Default route (destination/prefix ::/0). These three parameters are related to the RIPng (IPv6) Default route.
