Views when connected to a CICS resource definition server

When you are connected to a CICS® resource definition server, you can use several tabular views provided by the CICS Explorer. Through these views, you can perform limited changes to the resources such as processing a program with a PHASEIN command, scanning a pipeline, or discarding some resources.

When you are connected to a CICS Resource Definition server, these tabular views, however, are limited by resource type and the available columns within the view. Supported tabular views are DB2 Transactions, Document Templates, Files, Pipelines, Process Types, Programs, Regions, RPL List, TD Queues, Transactions, Web Services, Bundles, Event Bindings, and XML Transformations.

CICS Explorer views provide a more robust set of resource management facilities when used with a CPSM or CICS resource manager connection.

Not all functions available in CICS Explorer views that affect CICS resources are available when you are connected to a CICS resource definition server in Application Deployment Manager. The functions within CICS Explorer context menus that are available to you when you are connected to a CICS resource definition server in Application Deployment Manager are shown in Table 1.

Table 1. Context menu functions available through a CICS resource definition server

To take advantage of other CICS Explorer functions including resource editing, you should use the Connections preference page to connect to a different connection type such as the CICSPlex® SM Data Interface.
