This chapter explains the considerations for programs that need to be compiled for DB2 when moving to the integrated SQL coprocessor from the separate DB2 precompiler.
This chapter also discusses DB2 runtime considerations concerning CCSID and character conversions when moving from precompiler to coprocessor.
Starting with DB2 Version 8 you can no longer use the DB2 precompiler for OS/VS COBOL programs. Therefore, if a program needs to be changed, it must be upgraded to Enterprise COBOL or precompiled with an older version of DB2 precompiler, such as the one added to DB2 Version 8 by APAR PK46170. A precompiler that is very similar to the DB2 Version 7 precompiler is ported to DB2 Version 8 via PK46170.
