Rational Developer for System z, Version 7.6

Sharing a project with CARMA

The Share Project with CARMA function allows resources that exist within Eclipse and z/OS® to be associated with CARMA or included into the CARMA navigation structure. The added integration of CARMA into the Eclipse and z/OS project structure enables users to take advantage of CARMA functionality from any type of project located within the Rational Developer for System z framework.

To share a project with CARMA, follow these steps:

  1. Select a project to share with CARMA and open the context menu by right-clicking.
  2. From the context menu, select Team > Share Project

    The Share Project dialog opens.

Based on the connection chosen, the wizard will display a list of RAMs that exist on that connection as well as the Repository Instances that are within each of those RAMs.

  5. Select the RAM and corresponding Repository Instance that you want to share your project with, then select Next.

The share to CARMA function provides users with two options to help integrate their content with CARMA.
    1. Associate Project with Instance

Associating project resources with CARMA enables the project content to have CARMA functionality outside of the CARMA navigation structure. Once enabled, the CARMA functions can be accessed through the Team context menu.

    2. Transfer Existing structure to CARMA

Choosing to transfer an existing project into CARMA will copy the project structure and content into a location within the CARMA navigation structure that is specified by the user. The location specified must be a type of container (RI, container) for the transfer option to work. If a container does not exist in the desired location, it will be up to the RAM to decide if it will create a container for the project or reject the choice of location. Once a project has been transferred into CARMA, it will be treated like any other CARMA project.

  6. Choose a configuration option and select Finish.
  7. If you choose to associate the project with a CARMA instance, no further action is required. Select Finish.
  8. If you choose to transfer your existing project into CARMA, select the parent container of the Repository Instance you would like to transfer the project to and then select Finish.
