When the Resource Definition Editor is initially launched, a Web service request is issued to the CICS® Resource Deployment server to return a list of active regions in the test environment, the CICS TS level (CICS TS 3.1, CICS TS 3.2, etc.), manifest export rule, staging group name, and the CICSPlex® SM installed indicator.
The Resource Definition Editor main panel contains a text box for the default target region, and if the manifest contains a default target region it is used to populate the target region text box. Otherwise, the default target region is taken from the entry in the internal list of primary connection regions that was checked as the default when the connection was defined.
The target region drop-down list shows a primary connection region and all Multi-Region Option (MRO) connected regions. The first entry in the list is the primary connection region definition that was checked as the default on the Connections preference page.
If CICSPlex SM Business Application Services is used to manage CICS resources, a group text box is also displayed.
If an existing manifest contains a default group, it is used to populate the group text box. Otherwise it is blank.
The group drop-down list is populated by the Web service request for the staging group name if one was supplied by the system programmer. If the target region is changed the group text box displays No group selected. This is a valid selection if you do not wish to associate a group with the project resource definitions.
