Rational Developer for System z, Version 7.6

Export section

The Resource Definition Editor contains an Export section.

This section appears only if the Export manifest rule is set to Export only or Either. The Export manifest rule is set by the system programmer and is a global setting for the CICS® test environment.

Clicking the Export definitions button causes Application Deployment Manager to issue a request that exports the manifest file to the CICS resource definition server. There it may be subsequently processed (validated/edited and installed) by the system programmer using the Manifest Processing tool.

Manifests are created during the generation stages of several tools in Rational® Developer for System z®. You can then open the manifest and edit or add resources. You can then save this edited manifest to a workstation where you can use it to install CICS resource definitions directly into CICS or export them to z/OS®, where you can further edit the manifest and use it to install CICS resource definitions.

During the reiterative development process, you can cause the manifest to be regenerated. To preserve prior edits or additions to the manifest made by a developer or system programmer, the saved or exported manifest is used as a base for manifest regeneration. An exported manifest always takes precedence over a local workstation manifest. Therefore, if the workstation contains a saved manifest and that manifest was also exported, the exported manifest is retrieved and used as a base for manifest regeneration.
