Rational Developer for System z, Version 7.6

Manifest creation by single-service generation and service flow projects

Many tools within Rational® Developer for System z® can, as part of their generation process, create Application Deployment Manager manifests that are used to define, install, and discard CICS® resources.

A manifest file is used to store CICS resource definitions for a project or subproject. Single services generation and service flow projects components of the Enterprise Service Tools perspective create the manifest file during the project generation phase. The manifest file can also be created by other components or manually.

Users of Rational Developer for System z can create new service interfaces from enterprise applications (bottom-up), map to an existing service interface (meet-in-the-middle) development, and create a Web service implementation for a Web service (top-down). The missing piece is the ability to deploy the artifacts generated by Enterprise Service Tools. You can do this for the CICS runtime environment by using Application Deployment Manager.

The Application Deployment Manager contains the ability to create manifest files which describe CICS Resource creation and manipulation actions.
