Use the Labeled Input Field tool to create an input field
and an associated label field.
To create a labeled input field in an existing map, complete the
following steps:
- Click the cursor on Labeled Input Field in
the Advanced palette.
- Move the cursor to the Design canvas. It is not necessary to hold
down the mouse button.
- Click the location that you want on the Design canvas. If the
location is not valid, the fields will not be added to the Design
canvas.
You can also draw a sizing box, as is done with a table. However,
by default the label field is 5 characters wide and the input field
is 1 characters wide. Thus, the size of the drawn box will not affect
the sizing of the fields.
You can specify the following label field properties:
- Caption
- Length
- Fill remainder (specifies the character
used to fill the remaining label space)
You can specify the following input field properties:
- Name
- Length
- Initial value
- Whether the field is a Password field (check
box)
A warning is displayed if the input field cannot fit in the specified
location.
Reverse Layout Field
The
Reverse
Layout Field setting reverses the locations of the input
and label fields. To access this option, you must enable
bidirectional support.
