Tables

Use the Table tool to create a table, which is essentially a collection of fields within a grid.

It is recommended that you calculate the necessary size of the table box before you draw the table in the Design canvas. For example, to create a table with 5 columns that are each 10 characters wide, you should draw a box with a width of 50 columns. If you want to include a label row and a separator row, you should add two rows when drawing the table.

To draw a table, complete the following steps:
  1. Click the Table button in the Advanced palette.
  2. Place the pointer in the Design canvas. A drop box is added to the simple pointer.
  3. Click and hold the left mouse button at the location that you want within an existing map.
  4. Draw the table box (using the pop-up box for sizing information) and release the mouse button.

A warning is displayed if the table cannot fit in the specified location. After the table is drawn, a configuration wizard opens.

You can modify settings for an existing table using the Design page tools.

Use the Edit option to change preferences for a specific column. You change the column position in the table by using the Up and Down buttons.

Click Add to create additional columns. You can specify the following column properties:
