Rational Developer for System z, Version 7.6

Launching the Resource Definition Editor

There are several ways to launch the Resource Definition Editor from Eclipse projects and z/OS® projects.
You can launch the Resource Definition Editor in the following ways:
  • Double-click the name of a manifest file. A manifest file name has an .admr extension.
  • Right-click the name of a manifest file, select Deploy CICS Resources > Define and Install.
  • Right-click a z/OS project name, and select Deploy CICS Resources.

During iterative development manifest resources are typically defined and installed during the first iteration. During subsequent iterations the resource definitions do not need to be reinstalled. However, updates to programs, Web service definitions (WSBind files), or Service Flow Projects flow properties may require that programs be refreshed, CICS® pipelines be scanned, or that the Service Flow repository file be scanned. To do this, right-click the manifest file name, and click Deploy CICS Resources > Re-scan and Phase-in.

CICS resources installed by the CICS resource definition server on CICS systems where resources are not managed by CICSPlex® SM Business Application Services use the CICS CREATE SPI command. Resources installed in this way do not survive a CICS cold start. Normally, CICS is warm-started. However, if CICS is cold started these resources will need to be reinstalled. To do this, right-click the manifest file name, and click Deploy CICS Resources > Re-install all manifest resources.
