Adding and removing covered lifelines to and from combined fragments

In Unified Modeling Language (UML) sequence diagrams, you can add and remove covered lifelines to combined fragments to visually represent constructs in interaction instances.

You must have a sequence diagram with lifelines and combined fragments open in the diagram editor.
To add or remove covered lifelines to or from a combined fragment:
  1. In the diagram editor, right-click a combined fragment; then click Covered Lifelines and complete one of the following steps:
    • To add lifelines, click Add Covered Lifeline(s).
    • To remove lifelines, click Remove Covered Lifeline(s).
  2. In the window that opens, click the lifelines and click OK.
Note: When you remove a covered lifeline in a combined fragment, all the messagesĀ and interaction fragments that are contained in the combined fragment and are covered by the lifeline are also deleted.
