Privileged users and groups

Rational® ClearCase® recognizes certain users and groups as privileged.

A typical Rational ClearCase community includes two user classes:

Ordinary users have rights to modify or delete resources (VOBs, views, and the objects they contain) that they create or that are assigned to any group of which they are a member.
Privileged users have unrestricted rights to create, modify, and delete all resources. (In a VOB that has been protected against remote privileged users, no user is considered privileged unless he is logged on to the VOB server host.)

The Rational ClearCase server process user
On Windows®, the Rational ClearCase albd_server program runs with the identity of a special user account known as the Rational ClearCase server process user.
Preventing privileged VOB access by remote users
Rational ClearCase allows you to prevent privileged access by users who are not logged on to the local host.
Restricted view access privileges for remote root
On Linux® or the UNIX® system, the root user account has restricted access privileges to dynamic views on remote hosts.
