Creating a user region map

A user region map enables you to specify a Rational® ClearCase® registry region to which a user or group will be given access when using the Rational ClearCase remote client. A user or group named in a region map can access only those VOBs that have tags in a particular region.

A user region map is a file that maps registry regions to users or groups. You can create one of these files to limit VOB access to specific users or groups. User region maps are supported only by the Rational ClearCase remote client.

A region map controls the set of VOBs that a user can specify in load rules. Adding or changing a region map after load rules have been created can cause unspecified behavior if VOBs from which resources had previously been loaded do not have tags in the region to which a user is mapped.

Note: Any VOB tag in a region defined in a user region map must also exist in the Rational ClearCase Web server's default region.

To create a user region map:

Create the file. File syntax is explained in User region map syntax.
Modify the value of the ccrcUserRegionMapfile MBean attribute to set it to the absolute path name to the file you created in Step 1. For more information about setting MBean values, see Modifying configuration defaults.

The region map takes effect the next time a Rational ClearCase remote client user connects to the server host.
