Installing Rational ClearCase to support non-global zones.

You must install in the global zone and each non-global zone.

Certain Rational® ClearCase® components, notably the MVFS, are shared by all zones on a host. The following steps are necessary to prepare the platform and then install Rational ClearCase:

  1. Configure the global and non-global zones using the tools provided by Sun before you can install Rational ClearCase onto any of those zones. For details about configuring non-global zones, see the Sun product documentation (http://docs.sun.com).
  2. Prepare a Rational ClearCase release area for the release to be installed.
Note: The release area should be created in a location that is accessible to all zones that will install Rational ClearCase from that release area. The access requirements for the release area are similar to those specified in Using Rational ClearCase in a non-global zone.
  3. Install and configure Rational ClearCase on the global zone before you can install and configure it on any non-global zones. If you plan to run dynamic views on a non-global zone, the MVFS must be installed on the global zone on that computer. Specifically, this means that you cannot choose the ClearCase Server-only Installation option when installing Rational ClearCase on the global zone.
  4. On each non-global zone, install the new version of Rational ClearCase from the release area.
Note:

On a particular computer, the global zone and any non-global zones on which Rational ClearCase is installed must be running the same version and patch level of Rational ClearCase. You cannot schedule installations such that some zones are upgraded to a new release or patch and others are not.
