Upgrading Rational ClearCase in a non-global zone environment

Because you must install Rational® ClearCase® on the global zone before non-global zones, and keep all zones at the same version and patch level of Rational ClearCase, there is a specific order in which you must perform an upgrade in a non-global zone environment.

An upgrade installation affects the global zone and each non-global zone. The following steps represent a typical case:

  1. In each non-global zone, stop Rational ClearCase.
  2. In the global zone:
    1. Stop Rational ClearCase.
    2. Install the new version of Rational ClearCase from the release area.
    3. Restart Rational ClearCase.
  3. In each non-global zone:
    1. Install Rational ClearCase from the release area.
    2. Restart Rational ClearCase.

After each non-global zone has been upgraded, you can resume normal Rational ClearCase operations.
