Before logging in to a Rational ClearQuest user database

The first time you perform a Rational® ClearCase® operation that involves the base ClearCase integration with Rational ClearQuest®, you are prompted to enter your Rational ClearQuest user ID and password, and a database name.

A database stores Rational ClearQuest user IDs and passwords. (Your standard network user ID and password are used). Ensure that your Rational ClearQuest administrator has added a user ID and password to the Rational ClearQuest user ID and password database for you.

When you are prompted, enter your Rational ClearQuest user ID in this window; your login information is stored so that you do not need to be prompted again during Rational ClearCase operations. Thereafter, the integration uses the stored information instead of prompting you for it.

If you change your password or connect to a different Rational ClearQuest user database, the next time that the integration is involved in a Rational ClearCase operation that you perform, you see an error message and a prompt to reenter the login information. The integration updates the stored information.
