In all the configurations recommended for remote use, the view storage directory is in a server storage location. (This is the only configuration available for Rational® ClearCase® LT.) In Rational ClearCase, this configuration is ideal (and, on Windows® systems, in the case of a removable storage device, this configuration is enforced) because Rational ClearCase performance relies partially on the communications ability of various Rational ClearCase server processes. If you connect to the network from a remote location, you can improve Rational ClearCase performance if the view_server process for your view communicates with VOBs through a LAN instead of a modem.
