The Association window is used to associate records in a Rational® ClearQuest® user database
with versions in a Rational ClearCase® VOB
and to remove associations.
The Association window lets you find one or more records
in a Rational ClearQuest user
database and associate them with Rational ClearCase versions
on which you are working.
Remember: The requirement
to associate a checked-out or checked-in version with one or more change requests
may apply to all branch and element types in the VOB, or only to some branch
and element types. If this requirement is in force for the version that you
are checking in or checking out, the version must be associated with at least
one change request; otherwise, the checkin or checkout cannot proceed.
The Association window has the following parts:
Title bar
The title
bar shows the Rational ClearCase operation
being performed (either Checkout or Checkin) and the path of the version selected
by the operation.
Associated records
Labeled Associated Records, the
upper half of the Association window displays entries for the records in the ClearQuest user database
that you plan to associate with the current version. The column headings vary
depending on the data that your Rational ClearQuest administrator
defines for the default query. You can resize and sort the columns by using
standard techniques.
To remove entries from the display,
select them and click Disassociate.
Click OK or Apply
to All to commit these associations to the database. If your application
supports multiple associations, click Apply to All only
to associate or disassociate the records with multiple versions in your application.
Click Cancel to undo any association
changes that you make in this window and to cancel the related Rational ClearCase operation.
Query result set
The lower half of the Association window displays
the result set of a query that runs when the window opens and lists the entries
for records returned by the query specified in Query. Database indicates
the name of the Rational ClearQuest user
database that you are using. Record Type indicates
the name for the user record format in the database.
You
can change the query and the record type.
Click Browse to
find a query that returns the records that you want, and click Associate to
add selected records to the list in Associated Records.
