A baseline name consists of a user-specifiable root name and a generated, unique numeric extension. A baseline naming template for a project specifies the tokens that are used in the user-specifiable root name. The basename token in the template lets you enter a base name or baseline title. If the project has a baseline naming template set, the Template Name field shows the base name that you enter and the format of the user-specifiable root name that will be used for the new baseline.
If the project has a baseline naming template which does not include the basename token, the Base Name or Baseline Title field does not appear in the Make Baseline window.
An incremental baseline is a baseline that is created by recording the last full baseline and those versions that have changed since the last full baseline was created.
A full baseline is a baseline that is created by recording all versions below the component root directory. Generally, it takes less time to create an incremental baseline. However, it takes less time to look up the contents of a full baseline.
