SQL statement specification in the SQL builder

When you use the New SQL or XQuery Script wizard or window to create an SQL statement, the statement contains the template code for the statement type that you select. After you create the SQL statement, you can specify the statement by providing the information for its clauses in the SQL builder.

SQL builder
The SQL builder provides a graphical interface for creating and running SQL statements. Statements that are generated by the SQL builder are saved in a file with the extension .sql.

Use a SELECT statement to specify criteria for returning rows from a database table.
Specifying INSERT statements in the SQL builder
Using an INSERT statement, you can insert rows from a values set or from a subquery results table into a database table.

A FULLSELECT statement composes results from subqueries and sets of values to form a results table.
Specifying WITH statements in the SQL builder
A WITH statement is composed of one or more common table expressions and a SELECT statement. A common table expression defines a named results table that can be specified as a table in the FROM clause of a subsequent SELECT statement. The WITH statement is available only if you are using IBM^® DB2^® database.
