Lesson 1.6: Adding and labeling asset files and submitting the asset

You are ready to complete the New Asset Wizard and submit the new asset into the repository.

When you submit an asset, it might go through a required review process if one has been created for the specific asset type you chose. During a review process individuals outside of your specific development team will review the contents of the asset and verify the accuracy and completeness of the content.

After you submit an asset, other users across the departments in the organization will be able to find the asset, rate and leave comments about the asset, and reuse the asset if it applicable to their business context.

When you submit the asset, you will become the asset owner. You will automatically have e-mail subscriptions to the asset and will be notified when a user downloads the asset, updates the asset's metadata or content, or discusses the asset.

To add files to the asset and submit it to the repository, follow these steps:

  1. In the Categorize pane, click Next
  2. Select the Audit2007 project check box.
  3. Click Finish
  4. Click Yes when prompted to switch to the Asset Management perspective. You can edit the details in this view.
  5. In the Asset Editor, open the content tab to add the required label for the artifact.
  6. Click in the label column and type the label DesignModel for the DesignDocument artifact.

  7. Save the asset.
  8. Click Submit.
  9. Choose Skip review process and provide the asset AS-IS in the list and click OK
  10. Click Yes to confirm your submission.
  11. Click OK.
Tip: Did you notice the icons changed when you submitted the asset? There are many different icons that represent asset states in the workbench. The asset listing in brown text with the pencil icon indicates that the asset is a draft and can be edited. The green asset with the blue arrow indicates that the asset needs to be reviewed in the review process. Finally, notice that other assets in the repository have a blue box with a check mark; these assets have been approved after going through a review
