The AV-1 captures the overview summary information used to give the architecture context. As with a lot of these documents it is updated as the architecture development progresses.

It will capture information such as the project name and purpose (most important, know why you are developing an architecture), the assumptions and constraints, the time frames addressed. This is not an exhaustive list but it gives an idea of what should be covered in the AV-1.

The initial creation of the AV-1 is the first task that needs to take place in an architectures development as it describes the purpose of the architecture and sets its scope.

The finalization of the AV-1 provides the summary and results of the architecture findings.
