Main Description

This task provides a context to the operational situation and scenarios. It focuses on answering the following questions: Why is the architecture being created?, How will the architecture be used?, What is the scope of the architecture?

Inputs - elements that set the scope and context of the effort such as:

  1. AV-1 - Overview and Summary Information
  2. CV-1 - Vision for transformational endeavors
  3. Resource in Location
  4. Desired Effect
  5. Architectural description
  6. Location
  7. Resource
  8. Performer
  9. Activity

Outputs: OV-1 - High-Level Operational Concept.

A high level operational concept graphic, capturing the necessary architectural data, what the architecture is about and the operations involved. This diagram can be considered fit for purpose. It will usually take a capability and show how that capability is operationally executed. You can have multiple OV-1s to support the different capabilities, because the requirements for each capability can change depending on the location, or the service that is implementing them. This implies that the capability must be considered in the scenario in which it will be implemented.
