Consistency is supported by establishing and maintaining bilateral traceability between the system requirements including verification criteria and software requirements including verification criteria.

Outputs	13-22 Traceability record 17-11 Software requirements specification ENG 4.6 consistency and bilateral traceability are established between system requirements and software requirements; and consistency and bilateral traceability are established between system architectural design and software requirements

Key Considerations

NOTE 6: In case of software development only, the system requirements and system architectural design refer to a given operating environment (see also NOTE 4). In that case, consistency and bilateral traceability will be of customer requirements to software requirements.

NOTE 4: The operating environment is defined as the system that the software works in (e.g. hardware, operating system, etc.).
