Delivery Process: SUP.8 Configuration management
The purpose of the Configuration management process is to establish and maintain the integrity of all the work products of a process or project and make them available to concerned parties.

SUP.8.BP6: Maintain configuration item description. SUP.8.BP7: Control modifications and releases. SUP.8.BP8: Maintain configuration item history. SUP.8.BP9: Report configuration status. SUP.8.BP10: Verify the information about configured items. SUP.8.BP11: Manage the backup, storage, archiving, handling and delivery of configuration items.

As a result of successful implementation of this process:

SUP 8.1 a configuration management strategy is developed

SUP 8.2 all items generated by a process or project are identified, defined and baselined according to the Configuration management strategy

SUP 8.3 modifications and releases of the items are controlled

SUP 8.4 modifications and releases are made available to affected parties

SUP 8.5 the status of the items and modification requests are recorded and reported

SUP 8.6 the completeness and consistency of the items is ensured

SUP 8.7 storage, handling and delivery of the items are controlled

NOTE 1: Items requiring configuration control may include modules, subsystems, libraries, test cases, compilers, data, documentation, physical media, and external interfaces.
