candidate services. Most of the identification methods need to be used in concert, to achieve maximum
coverage for identifying service candidates. Not having this work product available therefore increases the risk that
all business-relevant services will not be identified. |

Domains, functional areas, relationships between the functional areas, and the business functions can be captured in
tabular form.
The functional area model also can be captured graphically. The following diagram shows a portion of a functional
area model, expressed in UML notation.
