1. Create a Systems Change Request
Let’s create a work item for Susan, a Systems Engineer, which will have her change a number of elements in DOORS.
Click Work Items -> Create from Template
From the Templates dialog, click Change Handling and select Infusion Pump and M1-Requirements Analysis from the drop
down menus.
Click Create From Template.
2. The created change request is an enhancement created from a template that includes a number of child work items
representing the types of change that are typically associated, for example, requirements, test, hardware, etc., as
shown in the example. We will focus on the Requirement Change Request (RCR) for this example.
Click on the newly created ‘RCR –‘ line item entry. The ID is this example is 749; yours may differ. Set the following
values:

Summary: RCR – first change request to modify information in DOORS.

Owned by: Susan

Priority: Medium

Comments: @susan – please make changes to the user needs in order to allow for …
Click Save when done.
Note that the @susan has turned into an active link. Also note that the Description section contains a direct link to
the Process Guidance Content that Pete reviewed earlier.
Log out of RTC.
3. Log in to RTC as susan/susan. Then navigate to Susan’s web dashboard clicking on Project Dashboards ->
Infusion Pump in the upper left corner.
Mouse over the Infusion Pump Queries -> Open assigned to me. You will see the newly created
assigned RCR – item.
Click on the RCR – item to open it.
4. The current Overview provides Susan with the most relevant information about the work item. Navigate to the
Links, and History tabs in order to see additional information about this work item.
In order for Susan to begin making changes in DOORS, she must change the state of the work item assigned to her. Click
on the drop down menu in the upper right corner and select Start Working.
