1. Log in to RTC as pete/pete, and then type the work item ID number into the search field in the upper right of the
screen.
Note in the overview tab that the state of the work item is In Review.
2. Click on the Links Tab, and then in the Tracks Requirement section right-click on the link and
select Open in New Tab. If you receive a warning message due to lack of security certificate, Allow
The Security Exception. If you are asked to re-validate your identity, log in as pete/pete.
In the Requirements Change Details screen, note that Pete can see the details of each of the changes
associated with the work item. After Pete completes the review, Close this tab.
3. Click on the Approvals tab for the work item.
Change the state of the work item from In Review -> Approve, and the click Save.
Pete receives a warning message that in order to move the state of this work item, an appropriate user must first
formally approve it. This is an example of various rule types that may be incorporated into RTC workflows. For this
example, we will use an informal, ad-hoc approval. In a real world situation, you may choose to enforce approvals with
identity re-validation of user id and password.
4. Click on Approval -> Approval.
5. Click on Add Approvers and the Add Pete from the Select Users pop
up. Close the Select Users pop up.
6. Change the value of Pete’s approval from Pending -> Approved, and then click Save. Note that the state of the
work item is now Approved.
