Navigate to the Relevant DOORS Folder
-
Using the DOORS® DB Explorer, navigate to the Project in the DOORS Database where you wish to create a
new document.
-
Within the Project, navigate to the appropriate Folder
Create the Specific Document
Note: You must have Create access to the current location.
-
Depending on the type of document that you wish to create, click the appropriate menu entry in the DOORS DB
Explorer

-
In the Dialog Box, fill in a Name for the module that will be used for the Document, and click
'Create'
The module will be created in a pre-determined folder in your project that is based on a template tailored for the
specific type of document.
Set up Linkset Pairings
When you create a new module, you will need to define linkset pairings for compatibility with the
traceability schema for the project. For example, if you create a new Subsystem Requirements Specification you will
need to define a linkset pairing in the Verification Plan to enable the creation of links from the Verification Plan to
the new Subsystem Requirements Specification.
When a new module is created, any existing module that will need links TO the new module must have linksets and
linkset pairings defined accordingly. Linksets FROM the new module to modules created by the "Create
Harmony/SE Project" feature will be created automatically. However, linkset pairings FROM the new module to any
other module (including module created by the "Create Specific Harmony/SE Documents..." feature) will need to be
defined manually.
Create Traceability Views
Depending on the type of document that you created, you may need to create or update certain views to display
the relevant traceability information. If you have created a project using the "Create Harmony/SE Project..."
menu, you can use the related module contained in the project as a reference for the needed views.
For example, if you create a new Subsystem Requirements Specification module you will need to update the view "09 -
Associated Subsystem Requirements" in the System Requirements Specification module and the view "04 - Associated
Subsystem-level Information" in the Verification plan module to include a traceability column that displays the
linked subsystem requirements from the new Subsystem Requirements Specification module. See the topics
"Adding a traceability column" and "Saving your current view" in the DOORS on-line help for more information on
creating trace columns and updating module views. When you create new modules, be sure to check the
related tool mentors for "Maintaining" modules in DOORS for information about views that must be updated
