Overview

The main purpose of the following activities is to identify and define the requirements artifacts, requirement types, their respective requirements attributes, how requirements traceability will be managed, and specifies the information to be collected and tracked.

Key Steps

1. Identify Key Stakeholders

• Focus on who will be using DOORS Next Generation (DNG)
• Candidates: Analysts, Project Managers, Product Managers, Systems Engineers, Customers, Subcontractors

2. Define Roles and Responsibilities

• Map stakeholders to roles that will be defined in DNG

3. Define Project Structure

• Define the folders that will be used to store artifacts
• Create a folder hierarchy

4. Define Artifact Types

• Decide what artifact types and artifact formats will be used

5. Define Artifact Data Types

• Investigate what artifact data types will be needed

6. Define Attribute Types

• Identify what custom attribute types will be needed

7. Define Module Templates

• Identify what module templates will be needed for enabling the creation of new modules

8. Define Link Types

• Different types of links can be used like mitigates, satisfies, verifies, implements, clarifies etc.
• Define which link types will be used between what types of artifacts

9. Identify Key Processes

• Based on the main development scenarios, define the relationships between the DNG elements and external elements residing in other tools like RTC, RQM, DM

• Identify a set of link types, artifact types and attributes which will have to be monitored for changes
