To create traceability links between requirements maintained in DOORS and model artifacts maintained in Rhapsody, we
will need to import the requirements from DOORS into Rhapsody. The tool that is used to perform this import is IBM®
Rational® Rhapsody® Gateway Add On. For specific information on how to configure the gateway, please see IBM Rational Rhapsody Gateway Add On tutorial.
Let's say we have a set of requirements captured in a formal module in a DOORS project.
We'd like to import these requirements into the Rhapsody model so that we can create traceability links from the model
artifacts (such as use cases, classes, etc.) to these requirements.
NOTE: Prior to performing this import, the Gateway project must be configured to create the link between the Rhapsody
project and the DOORS module(s).
In Rhapsody, right-click on the project and select Rational Rhapsody Gateway Synchronize.
Gateway and the Rhapsody/DOORS Synchronization wizard are invoked. Check only the "Add High Level Requirements" option.
Click Next, and choose a location for the requirements within the Rhapsody project.
Click Previous, and click Perform Sync.
The results of the import are reported.
Click OK. The imported requirements will be in a newly created package (whose name will be the same as the name of the
document you created in the Gateway Configuration dialog) in the Rhapsody browser.
You can now create traceability links (e.g., <<satisfy>> or <<trace>>) between these
requirements and model artifacts.
As new requirements get added to the DOORS module(s), you can keep the Rhapsody project synchronized with them by using
the same Gateway Synchronize menu as detailed above. In this case, unless you want to change some of the settings, you
can click the Perform Synch button on the first screen of the Rhapsody/DOORS Synchronization wizard.
Note that this tool mentor has only covered basic steps. The Rhapsody/DOORS Synchronization wizard provides many
advanced options which were not covered here. For more details on these advanced options, please refer to the tool help
provided with Rhapsody Gateway.
