The Global Configuration Management application manages configurations in Rational DOORS Next Generation, Rational Team Concert, Rational Quality Manager and Rational Design Manager . It provides a consistent interface for managing configurations within and between these tools.

Use of configurations requires that the database for the tools be set up appropriately, as it adds capabilities to the database that are not needed if configurations are not used. This also makes the use of configurations visible to users, which is not necessary if they are not being used.
