In this activity the product line engineering tools are reviewed in the following context:

• Supporting the engineering processes
• Supporting the PLE use cases
• Supporting the artifacts and their links

The gaps, if any, are identified and captured. This can lead into integration discussions, specifying steps to make a tool’s resources linkable and visible in PLE tools.

For example, the picture below illustrates the kinds of links and integrations between tools. The non-green “TRS” boxes represent new integrations needed. The other integrations between the tools on the left-hand side of the picture are also critical to identify. For example the OSLC link between RDM and the home-grown Interface Defn Tool will need to be created.
