Introduction: Create a manual test script tutorial

In this tutorial you will create a manual test script that tests the order entry functionality of the Classics Java™ application.

You can find a sample, TutorialCreate.rmt, of a completed script in the install-location/SampleScripts folder where install-location is the directory where Manual Tester is installed.

Create and save a new manual test script
Enter the four different statement types
Change one statement type to another
Indent a series of steps in a group

Prerequisites

This tutorial assumes that you have completed the Manual Tester Product Tour and are familiar with the IBM^® Rational^® Manual Tester user interface.

A verification point asks a question about the application you are testing; for example, "Did the User Login window open?"
Lesson 3: Creating a group of steps
Group steps when they form a series of tasks that are performed together. Start by creating a group folder and then add statements to the group.
Lesson 4: Creating a reporting point
Add a reporting point, which asks a question that might require more attention than a verification point. These points are often included in reports. A reporting point might summarize the results of several verification points in a script. You can then include those higher-level results in a status report.
