Lesson 2: Creating the web

You will now publish the selected model to a web.

To publish the model to a web, follow these steps:

  1. Make sure that you are in the Modeling perspective.
  2. In the Project Explorer view, select the model, SimpleUMLModel.
  3. Click Modeling > Publish > Web.
  4. In the General window under Level of Detail, click Full. This option generates all properties and contained elements for each element.
  5. Select the Generate diagram image files check box.
  6. Select the Display element icons check box. This option displays the element icons in the navigation panes and public, protected, or private status icons for the elements.
  7. Select the Automatically display published output check box. This option opens the root page when publishing has finished.
  8. In the Select folder to publish to field, browse to an existing folder that you intend to use as the destination of the published web.
  9. Click the Overview tab.
  10. In the Overview page, click Enable Overview customizations. You can now add information to be displayed in the Overview page of the report, including the author's name, a report title, the company name, and the date of publication. You can also add a logo or an external link.
    Note: The other two tabs, Types and Properties, give you additional control over the published material. Press F1 for more information.
  11. Click OK to start publishing the model.
  12. Accept any offers to migrate to the latest profile.

A list of published items opens in your browser. You are now ready to examine the published model.
