Lesson 1: Import the sample and set up

In this exercise, you will download a project from the Samples Gallery and set up the RAS environment.

Obtain the sample asset to publish

Obtain the sample that will be used to perform the RAS export from the Samples Gallery.

The sample consists of a project named RAS Export Sample. It will be downloaded onto your workspace and open in the Navigator view.

Activate the Reusable Asset Management capability

Begin by customizing your workbench, using these steps:
  1. Click Window > Preferences to display the Preferences window.
  2. Expand Workbench and click Capabilities.
  3. In the right pane, select the Reusable Asset Management check box.
  4. Click OK.

Open the RAS perspective

The RAS perspective is designed specifically for people working with reusable assets.
To open the RAS perspective:
  1. Click Window > Open Perspective > Other.
  2. In the Select Perspective window select RAS (Reusable Assets) and click OK. You may need to select the Show all check box if you do not see the RAS (Reusable Assets) choice.
Now you are ready to begin Lesson 2: Export the RAS asset.
