Creating launch configurations for JET transformations

You can create launch configurations for the input files to test JET transformations. Creating launch configurations enables you to store configuration information, which eliminates the need to supply configuration information each time that you run a JET transformation.

To create a launch configuration for a JET transformation:

In the Project Explorer view, right-click an input file for the transformation; then click Run As > Run.
In the Run window, in the left pane, click JET Transformation; then in the toolbar above the left pane, click the New launch configuration icon ().
In the Edit launch configuration properties window, specify the following information:
1. In the Name field, specify a name for the configuration.
2. In the Transformation Input field, specify the location of the input file.
3. From the ID list, select the transformation.
4. To change the level of detail that the Console displays when you run the JET transformation, select a value from the Severity (at or above) list. The information in the Console view is useful for debugging transformations.
5. For common launch configuration options, click the Common tab.
Click Run.

Note: To access this launch configuration when you run the JET transformation, click Run > Run History and click the name of the launch configuration.

Tip: If the input file has .xml as a file name extension, in the Project Explorer view, right-click the input file; then click Run As > Input to JET Transformation:

If only one launch configuration uses the file, then no further input is required.
If more than one launch configuration uses the input file, you must select a launch configuration from the list in the JET Transformation dialog box that opens; then click OK.
If no launch configuration exists, and the input file is in a JET transformation project, then a launch configuration that uses the transformation is automatically created and run.
If no launch configuration is created, you must create a launch configuration.
