Running transformations

You can apply a transformation configuration to transform the specified source into different content in the specified target. If the specified source is a model, the transformation interprets the elements of the source model and generates a specific type of output. In most cases, the source model remains unchanged. The transformation generates a new set of files or modifies an existing set of files.

Importing transformation configurations
You can import transformation configurations from any version 6 release of Rational^® modeling products into your workspace. You can import transformation configurations from an Eclipse workspace or from a file that contains previously exported transformation configurations. Files that contain exported transformation configurations have .tcexp as a file name extension.
Creating or editing transformation configurations
To generate output such as code from a source model, or to generate a model from code, you can run a transformation. To run a transformation, you must create a transformation configuration. A transformation configuration specifies information that a transformation requires to generate the expected output.
Running and rerunning transformations
You can run a transformation on an entire model or project, or on a subset of elements in a model or project to generate the output that you expect. You can run a transformation on the source that you specify in the transformation configuration, or you can override the specified source by selecting elements in the model or project and then choosing a transformation configuration to apply.
