About Revisions

When a customer agreement has a status of approved (APPR) or expired (EXPIRED), you cannot modify it. To modify a customer agreement of either status, create a revision of the agreement and modify fields in the revision. For example, you can extend the end date of an expired customer agreement. To do so, create a revision of the expired agreement  and change the end date of the revision.

Use the Create a Revision action in the Customer Agreements (SP) application to create a revision. When you create a revision of the customer agreement, all information, including the price schedule, is copied from the original agreement to the revision. You can edit certain fields in the revision, including price schedule information.

Revision numbers

You can identify the revision by the value in its Revision field. A customer agreement that is not revised has a value of 0 (zero) in the Revision field. The first revision of an agreement has a value of 1 in the Revision field; a revision to the first revision has a value of 2 in the Revision field, and so on. Each revision has descriptive comments in the Revision Description field.

Revision statuses

When you create a revision, it has a status of pending revision (PNDREV) but the status of the original record is not changed. After you approve the revision, the status of the revision either is approved (APPR) or waiting to start (WSTART).

The status of the revision is WSTART if the start date is in the future. The revision status is changed to APPR when the start date is the current date. When the status of a revision is APPR, the status of the originating record (the record with the "0" value in the Revision field) is changed to revised (REVISED). You can cancel a revision and create and approve a revision to that revision. If so, the status of the first revision is changed to CANCEL and the status of the new revision is changed to APPR.

Customer bills

A revised customer agreement is a history record. You cannot make further changes to a history record. However, you can process customer bills against a revised customer agreement.  Costs and revenue accumulate against the revision for which a transaction was created. They are also posted against the latest revision, ensuring that total committed costs and revenue on the most current version are accurate.
