Add a Relationship to an AssetAdd a Relationship to an AssetYou use the Relationships tab in the Assets (SP) application to specify relationships between the current record and other linear assets, point assets, and locations. Relationships are descriptive values, such as intersects, precedes, and parallels. You can also use relationships to create reference points. Before you can add a relationship to a linear asset, you must first create the relationship definition in the Relationships application.
In the Assets (SP) application, display the record of the linear asset for which you want to add a relationship.
Click the Relationships tab.
In the Relationships table window, click New Row.
By default the Source Asset field displays the current record.
If you want a different linear asset to be the source asset,
enter the asset or click Detail Menu 
to select an option
and retrieve one.
If you want to specify a source location instead of a source asset, clear the Source Asset field, then enter a location in the Source Location field.
In the Target Asset field or Target Location field, enter the asset or location that is the target in the relationship.
If you entered an asset that was not the current record in the Source Asset field, or you entered a source location, then you must enter the current record in the Target Asset field.
In the Relationship field, enter a relationship
or click Detail Menu to select an option and retrieve
one.
In the Use as Reference check box, select the check box if you want to use the relationship as a reference point. For example, an intersect relationship is typically a reference point. Clear the check box if you do not want to use it as a reference point. Depending on the value in the Relationship field, the check box might be selected by default.
In the Source Start, Source End, Target Start, and Target End fields, enter linear segment details to define the point or spans where the relationship occurs.
For example, route 33 intersects route 212. The intersection is at measure 40.6 miles on route 33 and measure 48.9 miles on route 212. The source (route 33) start and end measures are both 40.6, and the target (route 212) source and end measures are both 48.9.
A relationship can span sections of linear assets. For example, a parallels relationship might exist between route 33 and an access road that runs for one mile along route 33. The relationship might span miles 20.3 to 21.3 on route 33, and the full length (miles 0.0 to 1.0) of the access road.
If you want to add more relationships, click New Row and repeat steps 4 to 8.
Click Save Asset
