Change an Item Number

You use the Change Item Number action to change the item number of the current rotating asset record. Changing the item number is useful because some industries require different part numbers for the same type of part, depending on what the part is used for. A different part number can indicate that the same part has different installation requirements when it is used for different things.

You can use Change Item Number only if the asset is not in a storeroom location.

To change an item number:

1. On the Asset tab, display the asset record whose item number you want to change.

2. From the Select Action menu, select Change Item Number.

3. In the New Item field, enter a value or click Detail Menu to select an option and retrieve a value. The system displays the current item number in the Old Item field.

4. Click OK.
