Asset Tab

The Asset tab of the Assets (SP) application displays the main record for an asset. You use the Asset tab to add new records to the database and view and modify existing records.

This tab records the following information for each asset: parent, class, location, manufacturer, vendor, as well as information on costs, asset up/down status, the calendar, and warranty dates.

You also use this tab to provide customer information about an asset, such as the primary customer, the customer charge account and the customer cost center. A primary customer for an asset is the customer that is used to find agreements and response plans when an agent creates a ticket, work order, or sales order for an asset. The primary customer also determines classifications that the asset can use to further identify and characterize the asset, and determines the specifications within a classification that apply to the primary customer.

You can create the asset hierarchy on this tab. By specifying an asset in the Parent field, you make the current asset a child of the asset in the Parent field, thereby creating a hierarchy connection. You can also create the asset hierarchy on the Spare Parts tab.

If the IBM Maximo Linear Asset Manager license is installed, the Linear check box is displayed. If the Linear check box is selected, the asset is a linear asset and the tab displays an additional section: Linear Referencing Details.
