Create an asset record when you want to record and organize information about an asset that you provide services for.
On the toolbar, click New Asset . If the Asset field is empty, enter a value.
If you anticipate that you will move an asset from one site to another, make the number of the asset unique at the organization level. If you anticipate that you will move an asset from one organization to another, make the number of the asset unique at the system level. If there is already an asset with the same asset number at the site or organization to which you want to move the selected asset, the system will prompt you to provide a new number to the asset being moved. The move history of the asset will be maintained, regardless of asset number changes.
Type a description in the Asset Description field. Click Long Description if you need more space.
If the asset is a rotating asset, in the Rotating Item field, enter a value or click Detail Menu to select an option and retrieve a value. If the item that you specify has a classification, the classification and attributes are copied to the Specification tab.
If this asset has a parent, in the Parent field, enter a value or click Detail Menu and select an option.
If the parent asset is associated with a location, the location identifier is copied to the Location field. Only assets that are in non-inventory locations can be assigned as parents. You cannot build a hierarchy when assets are in a storeroom.
Optional: Associate customers with the asset.
Type the name of the customer in the Primary Customer field or click Show/Manage Customers to add several customers:
In the Add/Modify Customer Associations dialog box, click Select Customers.
Select one or more customers from the list and click OK. By default, the first customer you associate with an asset becomes the primary customer.
If you select multiple customers, and there is no primary customer for the asset, the first customer alphabetically in the selection becomes the primary customer.
Click OK to save the associations and return to the Asset tab.
Tip: When you associate a primary customer with an asset that has a classification, other attributes may become available. From the Specification tab, you can click Select Attributes to add the new attributes to the specification.
Optional: Enter information in the other fields as needed.
Click Save Asset .
