Specifications Tab

You use the Specifications tab in the Assets (SP) application to associate the selected record with a classification. Classifications are created in the Classifications (SP) application. Classifications help categorize assets into a hierarchy, making it easier to locate an asset. You also can use the Item Master application to classify items.

For example, you can create a classification hierarchy of pumps. In the hierarchy, you make pumps the top level of the classification. In the next level of the hierarchy, you define multiple pump types such as centrifugal, rotary, and reciprocating. Those pump types can be defined as having different attributes such as head, rated RPM, flow rate, and corrosion resistance.

Additional Fields for the IBM Maximo Linear Asset Manager

If the IBM Maximo Linear Asset Manager is installed, the top of the Specifications tab displays From and To fields. If the record you display is a point asset, both fields display 0.00. If the record you display is a linear asset, the From and To fields show the entire span of the linear asset.

If you display a linear asset record, the Specifications table window also includes a Linear Segment Details section when you click View Details .
