E-mail communicationsYou can create e-mail communications in which bulletin board messages are sent directly to people.
You use the Create Communications action in the Bulletin Boards (SP) application to create bulletin board communications.
To receive a message, a person must be a user in the system (and therefore have established customer access rules). The person must also have an e-mail address in the person record in the People (SP) application. Message recipients are always filtered by customer first. If the message audience lists one or more customers, a user must be granted access to at least one of the customers. Otherwise, the user does not receive the e-mail message, regardless of any other mail recipient settings.
After recipients are filtered based on the customers in the message audience, or if there are no customers in the message audience, other recipient filters are applied.
A person receives an e-mail message if one of the following conditions is true:
Recipients for the message are not specified. When no recipients are specified, the e-mail is sent to all people who have an e-mail address on the person record in the People (SP) application.
A communication template is used and the person is listed on the communication template. A template is set up in the Communication Templates application and lists people who typically receive the same messages.
The person is selected in the To field.
A person group is selected in the To field and the person belongs to that group.
A site role, person group role, or organization role is selected in the To field. The person must be associated with at least one site, person group, or organization that is listed in the audience of the message.
