Delete a Configuration Item

You cannot delete a configuration item if it is used on any other record. For example, you cannot delete a CI if it is part of a collection, or appears on an incident or problem record.

Instead of deleting a configuration item, you can change its status to decommissioned. Decommissioning a CI makes the CI inaccessible in all other applications.

To delete a configuration item:

1. In the Configuration Items (SP) application, display the configuration item that you want to delete.

2. From the Select Action menu, select Delete CI. A message asks if you are sure you want to delete the record.

3. Click Yes to delete the configuration item.
