Duplicate a Configuration Item

A quick way to create a configuration item (CI) is to duplicate an existing one, then modify the new CI as needed. When you duplicate a CI the system copies all the information from the existing one. Duplicating records lets you create similar records without having to enter the same information over again.

To duplicate a configuration item:

1. In the Configuration Items (SP) application, display the CI you want to duplicate.

2. From the Select Action menu, select Duplicate CI.

This action duplicates the CI record, including its classification and attributes, and values in all other fields except the Configuration Item field.

3. In the Configuration Item field, enter a name for the new CI.

4. In the CI Description field, enter a description for the new CI.

5. Edit the new CI record as needed.

6. Click Save CI .
