Change the Status of Multiple Configuration Items

You can change the status of multiple configuration item records at one time.

A configuration item can have the following statuses:

• Not Ready - the default status when you create a CI

• Operating - the CI is currently being used

• Decommissioned - when a CI has this status, the system does not display it in any Select Value dialog boxes. The CI cannot be used in any new records. You can access a decommissioned CI only in the Configuration Items (SP) application.

To change the status of multiple configuration item records:

1. On the List tab in the Configuration Items (SP) application, select the Select Records check box. A check box opens next to each of the records listed on the List tab.

2. Select the records whose status you want to change.

To select a record, select the Select Record check box. To cancel a selection, clear the check box. To select all records in the result set, select the check box next to the column header.

3. Click Change Status to open the Change Status dialog box.

4. In the New Status field, enter a value or click the drop-down arrow and select a new status.

5. Optionally, you can change the date in the Date field and enter information about the status change in the Memo field.

6. Click OK. The system applies the status change and updates the Status field.
