Add characteristics to your classifications by adding attributes. Attributes can be copied to the specifications table in applications that use the record type that you associate with the attribute.

To add attributes to a classification:

  1. Select a classification that you want to add an attribute to.

  2. Click New Row in the Attributes area of the Classifications tab.

  3. Specify a unique name for the attribute, and type a description.

  4. In the Data Type field, specify a type (ALN, Numeric, or Table).

  5. Optional: Specify a domain in the Domain field to standardize the list of values for the attribute.

  6. If you specified a table date type, you can validate an attribute against the values in a particular database column. Select values in the Table Attribute and Lookup Name fields.

  1. Select an organization and a site. If you want to make this classification available for every organization and site, leave the Organization and Site fields blank.

  2. Optional: Specify a unit of measure for the attribute.

  3. Specify whether the attribute is for all customers or specific customers.

  4. To make the attribute available for all customers, select the Is Global check box.

  5. To make the attribute customer specific, clear the Is Global check box.

  1. Optional for customer specific attributes: Associate customers with the attribute.

  1. Click Show/Manage Customers next to the Customer field.

  2. In the Add/Modify Customer Associations dialog box, click Select Customers. Select customers from the list and click OK.

  3. Click OK to return to the Classifications tab.

  1. Click Use with Object Detail to specify the types of records that use this attribute. Click OK to return to the Classifications tab.

  2. Click Save Classification .
