Select Parent Classification

Use the Select Parent Classification dialog box of the Classifications (SP) application to select the parent classification for a classification.

When the dialog box opens, it shows only the top level classifications. A plus symbol beside a classification indicates that it has sublevels of classifications. Click the plus sign to expand the listing.

To select a parent classification, click the blue select box beside it. The dialog box closes, and then the selected parent classification is displayed in the Parent Classification field.

A global classification can only have a global classification as its parent; an error message will be received if a customer specific classification is chosen as a parent.

If the classification is customer specific, has customer associations and there was a previous parent classification (as opposed to the field being previously blank) then some of the customer associations might be considered redundant on the previous parent classification and you might be asked whether they can be removed.

If the classification is customer specific and the new parent classification is also customer specific with customer associations and the Associate Customers with Children check box is selected on the new parent classification, customers that are associated with the new parent classification are added to the classification if they are not already associated.

If the classification is customer specific with customer associations and the new parent classification is also customer specific then customers that are associated with the classification but not the new parent are added to the new parent classification.
