About Comparison Rules ComponentsYou use the Comparison Rules (SP) application to create comparison rules. A comparison rule defines how to compare objects or attributes of a child or parent object in one data set with a child or parent in another data set when the system executes a reconciliation task. You can use the following components to create comparison rules:
a unique comparison rule name (required)
a brief description of the comparison rule (optional)
The customer associated with the comparison rule. This field is used to limit the records included when a reconciliation task is processed. If you specify a customer, you can apply the comparison rule only to reconciliation tasks created for that customer. If you do not specify a customer, you can apply the comparison rule only to reconciliation tasks that are not associated with a customer.
data set specifications that indicate what data to reconcile (required)
full CI comparison specification (optional) selecting the Full CI Comparison check box creates a full configuration item (CI) comparison rule that lets you compare CI relationships and their associated specification attributes. This function applies only to customers who install Change and Configuration Management Database (CCMDB). For more information about full CI comparisons, see Create a Full CI Comparison Rule.
*Data Set 1 filter to define filter clauses that specify a subset of Data Set 1 to reconcile against Data Set 2
*Data Set 2 filter to define filter clauses that specify a subset of Data Set 2 to reconcile against Data Set 1
one of the following definitions:
matches found to define the ratio of object instances in Data Set 1 to object instances in Data Set 2 that you want to look for in the comparison
attributes equality to define how to compare the specific attribute or attributes of a child or parent from Data Set 1 with specific attribute or attributes of a child or parent in Data Set 2
*Data set filters are optional components unless you include matches found clauses in the comparison rule. If you include matches found clauses, you must have a filter for Data Set 1 or Data Set 2, or both.
