About Response Plans A response plan is a set of automated actions and notifications for a specified set of conditions. You create a response plan when you want to ensure consistent, predictable responses to requested work. When you use response plans, your service agents have fewer decisions to make about how to respond to a request.
For example, you have internal service technicians who perform some of your maintenance work and you hire contractors to perform the rest of the work. You use different contractors for different locations. Create a response plan with conditions that specify the type of work you perform at each location and to whom to dispatch the work. Your service agent does not need to make decisions about the best worker or vendor for the location.
You create response plans for any of the following circumstances:
the person or group responsible for a location or an asset for conditions you specify
the vendor to whom work is assigned for conditions you specify
the job plan and steps to be used for work on an asset for conditions you specify
the persons or groups to be notified about work on an asset for conditions you specify
the notifications to be created for the conditions you specify
the actions to be performed for the conditions you specify.
For example, you specify that for certain conditions on an incident, the system creates a work order and closes the incident.
