Applications Subtab

You use the Applications subtab of the Software tab in the Computers (SP) application to view information about software applications installed on computers in your organization.

The Applications subtab displays a table window with the following information about each software application installed on the selected computer:

You can select a software application in the table window and expand the row to show the following details for the selected application:

Administrators specify a value for software compliance when setting up the software conversion record in the Software Conversion application.

The discovery tools used to collect data about deployed software applications typically collect information only about individual software applications, not software suites. Administrators use the Software Suite Setup application to specify which software applications belong to a software suite. If an application is part of a software suite defined by an administrator, the suite name is displayed.

The discovery tool used to collect data determines how usage frequency is calculated. For example, some discovery tools collect data maintained by the Windows Add/Remove Programs feature, which determines usage counts based on the number of times a software application was used during the last 30-day period. In general, data collected indicates the number of times a software application is used in the time frame specified by the discovery tool.

Administrators specify a range for usage frequency and select a user-friendly text to display in the Computers (SP) application. For example, administrators can select the word DAILY to describe software used between 15 and 30 times or MONTHLY to describe software used between 1 and 2 times.

For information about a field, place the cursor in the field and press Alt+F1.
